LITEON DG-16D4S - SLIM Laser won't move

Hey everyone, I recently got an Open Tray issue on my X360 slim, (DG-16D4S) which was flashed and has a TX unlocked PCB v1.1 in it
After replacing the laser with a new one, the issue still wasn't resolved, I then put in the old PCB and still no changes.
I then took the casing off the dvd drive and looked at the laser when opening/closing the drive, it barely moves (like.. 1/10th of an inch)
Then I tried moving it myself, but it goes pretty rough, usually the 2 bars the laser moves around on are greased pretty well, but these are nearly dry.
Where can I buy the proper white greasy stuff that goes on it? And what is the best way to put it on?

Thanks in advance,

Is the worm gear that drives the laser seized or is the guide slipping on the worm.
Assuming with guide you mean the white plastic part on the laser connected to the worm? It's not slipping at all, when moving the laser back and forth the worm turns

How would I check if the worm gear is seized?

the motor that moves the laser back and fourth has a brass gear on it that spirals up like a worm or a twizzler and the laser has a plastic guide screwed to it that has a spring under it that keeps the plastic hugging the "WORM GEAR" tight so it will guide up and down the chassis. so either your guide is bad or missing the spring or your worm gear motor is locked up

Actually, I just put a little of the white grease from the worm on the 2 silver bars where the laser should glide on, and the laser already moves better, so I am guessing I need to grease it up a bit more? What type of grease is this (White lithium)?
And where would I buy it?

I greased up the rails, and now the laser goes back and forth again when opening/closing drive, however it still gives the open tray error..
Any help?

come on geek he's smarter than that. lol...
did you happen to check the spindle while you were at it? could be gunked up from being over played. If you cant get it to free-spin with one finger then it probably needs to be popped off and cleaned and lubricated (inside motor and the spindle). but geek does make a point because new lasers are not tag and release you have to do as he said and remove the solder ball

Need a new laser then, where did you get your new one from as they are mostly crap off ebay etc.
Ordered mine from a site I always ordered my stuff from, (not sure if I'm allowed to advertise it..) I bought lasers for phat xboxes there aswell and never had issues with those.

U did take off the anti static solder blob from the laser I hope.
Yes

I'll check that then I suppose, didn't feel like removing the sticker on top of the dvd drive case but I'll do that now

You don't have to take the sticker off just open the drive case and try to move the motor that spins the CD. The CD sits on the spindle which pops down into the motor. You can pop them off sometime with your hand. But sometimes they can be very tight and you will have to find a couple of flat tip screwdrivers that fit just right and using the drives chassis as leverage put one screwdriver on each side of the spindle and pry the spindle up out of the motor but be care full not to pry at the top where the plastic is. You have to pry from the bottom of the metal part of the spindle. And you can't stick your screwdrivers under it very far, you just want to get a bite right on the lip because it has the windings under there and a round magnet inside that part you pry on
