hi guys,I have installed the xex menu, and had glitched my slim with using jrunner and dashlaunch patches install box checked.

Had used the default selection to create the launch ini file and it assumed that I was going to put the fsd in usb.

I havent attached an external drive yet,and havent installed the fsd yet.In those setting no hud option which disables the miniblades(when you press the xbox button there comes the miniblades and from there you can press y and return to the dashboard)was active.

I have ftp'd to the box using the xex menu.
BUt I can not see where the launch.ini is(as far as I know it should be on root also checked hdd1,not there) and I can not go back to the dashboard whenever I want to.I want to change that ini file.can somebody please tell me why I am experiencing this and what I need to do.

thanks

Somewhere in the 'verse
if you used jrunners dashlaunch addition, then the launch.ini is held within the nand (not easily editable)
i tend to NOT include dashlaunch patches, then ust use dashlaunch installer for that very reason

It is put in the actual nand. You can remake an image or you can launch dash launch and edit the settings from there
how to do the
"you can launch dash launch and edit the settings from there "
part is not clear to me.Is there a program for me to edit the settings?

Well making an image from the start would take time

create image

flash it to the nand

update with avatars

etc,i am just lookin for a way of doing it the short and easy way if possible.

a question though do you guys prefer to use the fsd from USB or the internal hdd?

He means run the DashLaunch installer and it should prompt you to update your current launch.ini.

If you really wanted to, you could move launch.ini from FLASH into HDD or USB so you can access it easily in the future.

thanks for the answer guys,it guided me through. For future victims I can share a few info here.

if you have selected dashlaunch patches at jrunner(you are advised against it by me)

Even if you do you can try this

1-download dashlaunch from xbins under development/systemtools ,in the zip file you should see installer,
2-get this installer to somewhere on your hdd ,like the root of hdd1
3-and run the xex file.
it will tell you you dont have launch.ini to update ,now create one under the root of hdd1
-Now run the installer once again and this time it should tell you which options you want to use.

Dashlaunch will use launch.ini on 'Flash:' after it's looked for a copy on HDD, USB and IntMu. Therefore having a copy on any 3 devices will override the version in 'Flash:'.

after reading your post it seemed reasonable to have it in flash, because if your internal hard drive messes up,and if you didnt have a backup of your launch.ini, long as you have the fsd path right for the ini file that is in the flash ,you will still be able to boot directly to FSD.

It's not even for that reason. TBH I don't even think it's something we should put in flash as it really wants to live on the same device where FSD is stored. No point in having it autoboot to FSD if the device in question isn't connected.

As a last resort, you can ALWAYS copy launch.ini to a USB stick and run it from there, which is essentially why USB is scanned before flash.
