instead of having to leave your tv screen on, it allows you to view what is playing for music/movies and other odds and sods on the xbox. It is pretty neat set up if you ask me.

Ive put the LCD screen in my box & to be honest I am a little dissapointed - after hacking & cutting my crystal box (God I wish they had made the LCD a few mm smaller!) all I can do is put a line of static text on the display (via Config Live).

OK I'll admit it looks quite neat, and if you don't mind the terror of sawing up your case - its worth doing if you've got spare time on your hands, but it would be far more useful if it displayed CPU temp etc. which I hope it will in the next bios upgrade! (hope your reading team xecuter)

If the chap who says you can display media info etc. can let me know how to do it - it would be appreciated!

I am sure you can get the LCD to rotate set prefs etc. eg mp3 tag, cpu temp, time etc!
BTW to set mp3 tags etc try looking in settings of XBMC I seen the LCD enable there!

can anyone verify this?

Just got my X3 and lcd yesterday and I'm a first for everything (a.k.a. dumb noob) I've looked all over for a way to "protect" the lcd against shorts any suggestions? and am I supposed to use screws to fasten it to the case? I really looked around before posting so excuse me if I break the rules

i've read of the XBMC being able to rotate text. not so sure on the temperatures, but i dont see why not. It is just a matter of finding the correct software to do what you want, and XBMC is one of the better ones that have been configed for this piece of hardware. If you keep the XBMC software uptodate you should be alright in finding the stuff you need....

I would have thought it would also be quite easy for someone to created a little script to display news feed too!

are these good ideas or are they in operation at the moment?

Far from here!
Yes, look in XBMC and check the XCLD to on. It will display your XBMC info on the screen.

No, You do not have to use screws to hold the XLCD in place. I didnt and it works just fine. I put a little backing behind it because I didnt want any screws showing.

Yes, put some electrical tape all over the back of the XLCD screen to protect it from shorting.
