LED Problem

I just did my first LED controller port mod and Im having a problem. I installed it all correctly(I think), and the LED will not light up when XBOX powers up, but only when the controller is plugged in to the appropriate port. What could cause this problem?

isn't it supposed to light up when you plug it in?
that's how i'd like to have it...

make sure you have a constant power supply to your led power wire.
