Don't see why they wouldn't be. But check out some of the dual-color ones at LSDiodes.com. It's cool to be able to switch colors just like you would with the original lights, and theyre a direct fit and easy to put in.

I want to swap the standard led's in the front panel with these? Would these be suitable? I mean, they say they are 4.5v max forward current, isn't XBOX 5v? Would they be okay?

No they will not work ...the green and red leds that are in the panel have a forward voltage of 2.5V and have a resistor in series to drop the rest...
If u put in the 4.5 volts then there is none or very little voltage to make them work..

Use these..then there is no need to change any resistors on the m/board

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=12707&TabID=1&WorldID=&doy=9m3

I have these in my xbox for 6mths now
Note i have also used these direct from 5V (in the controllers) using 47R series resistor (maplin code G47R ).

Take lots of care soldering on this board ...the tracks are extremely fragile as its single sided
I have a lot of soldering experience and still managed to damage a track/pad.

Well, they'd work, they'd just be dim :)

Instead of desoldering the original LEDs, just cut them and solder the new ones to the leftover "stalks". That, and using a low-wattage iron, will help keep you from damaging the traces.

I was just about to say the exact same thing! Thats what I did for my power LEDs. Well, actually, I just cut the legs on one of the LEDs, flipped it over, and resoldered it so I would have the dual color front. But hey, same idea. :)

Thanks guys, especially you sb122606: for telling me the led's and resistor I needed.

Just one question, when I told them the code for the resistor at Maplins, they gave me a different resistor because they didn't recognise the code for some reason, here is the colour code for the resistor I got, yellow, purple, black, gold, brown and the colour of the resistor is blue. Is this the right one? Thanks.

(Sorry I'm rubbish at resistor colour codes, and maths. And the spec's for the resistors are never in Volts for some reason, I only know volts.)

Just to clarify ..the resistors are NOT needed if u are just putting in the leds in the front panel..i added extra leds to the crystal controllers which only have a 5V rail ..for that u need the 47R resistor.

And YES thats the right value.. JIC anyone is interested in correctly reading resistor colour (color for the US) bands

If you do lift a pad on the power PCB its quite easy to fix anyway TBH :)
