Does anyone use a LG GSA4120-BB DVD dual layer +/- and have any success writing disks for the xbox. I must have written £20 worth off duf disks both CDs and DVDs now and cannot make anything dvd work at all.

It works when I burn CD's for music (even in my xbox) but I have not been able to back up a single game or film.

Hi, it might be the software you are using for backups. For dvd's use cloneDVD and anyDVD, and for xbox games once copied to your hard drive and ftp'd to your pc use either quix or cloneXB. I use all these and so far have not a single coaster using datawrite classics and datawrite titanium discs. If you need any help getting these pm message me.

Sorry m8 nearly forgot, it could also be your xbox dvd drive, make sure you don't have a thompson coz they are utter crap, samsungs are the best or philips a close second. As for dvd burners, my first was a pioneer till a burned it out after 1000's dvd's and now using nec 2510 dual layer 8x, cheap as chips and works 100% for me.

Got 2 machines (xboxes) and they don't work in either, one with a Samsung one with a Thompson. Used Nero 6.3, tried Quix and tried some other dodgy software even the software that came with the drive. Not managed to even write a valid DVD film. I create them and they only partially work the films play and the games sort of start and half copy but I always get a least one bad sector.

Going to get some of the Ritek disks that MartinC recommends, if that doesn't work I'll buy another drive and see what happens then. I am starting to suspect the drive

Thanks for the offer of help,I was hoping somone out there had the identical dive and could tell me what comination of software/dvd's they use. Not that it should really matter but ...

What brand/media are you using?

I personally have had good luck with DVD Decrypter for burning my Xbox backups. Note you will still have to use something like Qwix or Craxtion to create the ISO image first. And yes go with Ritek brand DVD-R also I have had good experence with Princo 2x (Philips/Samsung Drives) and Sony 4x (All Drives and PS2).

NOTE: Those in the US stay away from the CompUSA brand DVD-R 8x Sku# 329044 green label as they are sh*t. Now the red label DVD-R 2x (Princo) Sku 312097 work fine in Xboxes with newer Thompsons also with Samsung and Philips drives.

Actually Lite-On's are pretty good I have 2 (SOHW-812S & LDW-851S), down fall is they lack of media support.:(

Next Drive I get is either going to be Plextor or a Toshiba of coarse with DL and Lightscribe technology :D.

If you want a good dvd burner try the NEC 2510A, 8x media, Dual Layer, all my backups work 100% using datawrite classics and titanium discs, also backed up Rallisport Challenge 2 to a datawrite dual layer disc (over 6 gb) and it works a treat.
