Lifted Lad1 trace. Am I screwed?

soldering the X3 to V 1.6 mobo didn't go quite as planned. Have seen some other topics of people who lifted the d0 trace but no post with Lad1. I would say that i was pretty carefull, trace almost came off by itself just like that. Maybe too hot iron? O_O

What can i do now? I'm unable to solder the wire now that the trace is gone. Workaround anyone? Maybe try on the other side of the mobo?

I am most gratefull for all suggestions. Thx!

I had this problem with d0, I looked for the dots that the trace was connecting and connected them with my own wire, soldering the ends to the 2 points. Worked for me.

problem with lad1 is that i can't see any traces going from the point. That's why i wondered if it could be done on the other side of the mobo.

I had this problem with my D0 trace.

I'm buying a CircuitWriter pen today to fix a trace near the D0 (my box is FRAGing right now). I'm just going to put electrical tape around the points and then try to write the trace in with the pen and then insulate it with tape.

This should work for me, and you could probably try it too, unless you want to shell out the money for a new mobo.

Well, I fixed my trace :D , but my Xbox still sucks big monkey nuts (i.e. still FRAGs). :(

I really can't figure out how it still frags. :(

I'm going to desolder my entire LPC and redo it. (and use as little amount of solder as possible, although my joints are already good.....)

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting and i wish it were for something other than a problem... lol... i have an xbox v1.0 and my X3 did not come with a pin header so i installed it with the wire install... well.. my xbox is FRAGing but my X3 has both LED's lit up and i checked all my solder points twice. the only problem i think i could be having is with the D0 point on the bottom... but if anyone has any ideas. please let me know

thanks!

why would you be having problems with d0 if you get frag

frag = d0 is correct

I'm not really sure why i am having problems, i just remember that my old modchip would frag my xbox if the d0 wasn't right and so i guess i assumed the same... i have all the wires in the right spots on the LPC bus and when i boot my xbox up it powers up, then off, then on, then off, then on again then frags... the HD light on the external switch stays on, and the light is red. i dunno if maybe i just need a new xbox or something, i'm not stupid, i just don't know what to do, lol

Is an incorrectly soldered LPC the only thing that can make an Xbox FRAG, if FRAGing is showing that he D0 point is correct?

If not, what else could cause a FRAG?

Ive got the same prob, only with the LAD2 trace.

Ive seen a tute on ht tp://www.llamma.com/xbox/

Shows you how to repair a lifted trace & pad with 30AWG wire.

Gonna try it later myself. might not be able to mod the box once fixed. but working unmodded xbox is better than a modded broken one i spose.

Ill let u know how i go and maybe post a pic

fixed the broken LAD2 trace perfectly with the fine wire, xbox booted 1st attempt with no FRAG :)

As this 1.6 board already had the header pins installed and the trace had been broken by someone attempting a manual LPC rebuild, i decided to go one step further and fit the rebuild module.

So i soldered it in place cut the wire i had fixed the trace with and soldered the 2 ends i had cut to the solder pad for the LAD2 rebuild.

I put everything back together and when i plugged the xbox in, it started up as soon as i plugged the power cord into the xbox.
The xbox works fine with no chip installed as of yet but the power button is useless, eject works fine! To switch xbox off i have to pull out the power cord.

Obviously i have shorted something out but for the life of me i cant see what!
Has anyone any idea which contact on the rebuild PCB to look at as its most certainly getting shorted from one of those.

Pic of what ive done here......

there is a good tutorial on fixing traces on www.xbox-scene.com
its in the "Modchip, TSOP and Bios Guides". then go to general repairs and the articles there were very useful to me. i didn't do exactly what it said but it sent me in the right direction.

One day was working as soon as plugged in without having to press power switch!

Next Day Xbox is completley dead! Ive checked the fuse and had a multimeter on the connector from PSU to mobo and it seems the PSU is ok!

Any ideas anyone??

you should try www.llamma.com and there is a section on this. you might need a new resistor. It happened to my xbox and i got a new resistor and it worked for a sec then it stoped again, mabe it was just my soldering job or somthin but it should have fixed the problem.
