Hello there, I don't know if I am in the right forum or not, but after a successful instalation of linux bios under x3, I found the edge of the screen to be cut off from all sides. I don't know if it's just me or what, but if you have the same problem or know how to fix it, please drop me a line.

eh, I ddin't really make it clear in the post, but I am talking about the desktop screen on Linux not displaying correctly, but the os is working fine.

What kind of Xbox ver. do u have?
Mine is a v1.6 and I use it with Xebian.

Correct, this is by no means a modchip specific issue. Its down to the v1.6's video encoder being proprietary to Microsoft (thus we do not have the manuals to programme it correctly in the Linux kernel driver). To avoid questions like this again, please try reading the manuals for available distros. Specifically the Gentoox one in this case:

I just wanted to share something that I've learned in the past week. I flashed a friends lite-on with 1.6 when it originally came out. He had never been on xbl until recently he told me he is now online. I warned him when I flashed it he would probably be banned if he went online. He has been on xbl with 1.6 (also using activate iso for wave 4 games) for the past month! I can't belive it. Now I don't feel so sure about LT, I think the reason we're not getting banned right now is because they are not activly swinging the hammer. Idk what's your take on this?

pretty common knowledge that the majority of the time they dont ban. what they tend to do is log you and then when they decide its time to ban they just ban loads of people. this in turn increases sales of new 360's and this usually coincides with big game releases like mw2. they dont ban all the time because theyre still making money off us modders with our live fees.

Exactly. Just because he hasn't been banned yet, doesn't mean he's immune to the ban wave. He's most likely been flagged to be bannedflashing360 said:

yee they usally flag the user then when the reach a limit they have a ban "wave". i wouldnt think he is getting away with it, alot of xbox 360s got banned , C4eva knows what he is doing, the reason people got banned is because the checks where detectable in the previous versions and i fink even in the older non stealth firmwares they were too old and therefore detectable. sos all of u prob know this stuff but im just typing it in case.

I flashed my friends box with 1.6 liteon 7000 series and he played on live with the exact same games I played on live with. I got banned when the hammer came down in october/november and he didn't. He took his off live and I just updated his to LT and he is back on live. I'm thinking Liteon was a hit or miss ban..

exactly. Microsoft is pretty good with bannings and such, but some of those people slip trough the cracks during the ban waves. I wonder if there is anyone that has a flashed console from the begining sammy ixtreme 50 and such and went through all the waves and have not got ban. I don't really buy into the whole "undetectable" nonsense. Like someone else mentioned, when a big game is coming out, that's when the firmware all of a sudden becomes "detectable" and a banhammer ensues.
