Hey guys, I don't know if this has already been posted or not. I acquired a slim xbox with dash 12xxx and a Lite-On slim with stock 9504 on it. I backed up the original firmware on the drive bc I know the drive will get updated to 0272 and get locked. My question is, how do I go about updating and then flashing the slim Lite-On with the firmware? If it gets locked with 0272 firmware how do I unlock it?

the drive will get locked either you want or not if you want Live... the update will fail if the drive is already locked or do anything weird to prevent it from locking

There is also the sputnik switch that is very simple to do if you have an mxic board (I believe most 9504 liteons were mxic) It costs about $8 USD and like i said its real simple to do. The pcb replacement is the easiest, but either way Id recommend updating to the newest dash before you do anything. You already have the drive key so your good to go on whatever method you choose.

Is there a way I can lock the drive? I seen on here that you can fail the update and then reflash the drive with the latest firmware and it will continue to update from there. Is that possible? I appreciate the input Im getting. Is a Winbond chipset on it, and I dont feel like doing a kamikaze hack bc I will probably screw that up.

Is it possible to spoof an old drive to think its the slim and then update, reflash the phat drive, finish the update and then flash the original slim drive to the newest Lt firmware?
