LITEON 74850 LiteOn 74850C/0251C Stock Firmware

My Xbox 360 came with a Lite-On 93450C, but recently the DVD drive became faulty, so I bought a Lite-On 74850C drive. I put the original drive's stock FW (Lite-On 93450C) on the replacement drive. The drive got updated to 02510C firmware via xbox live update, but the drive tray doesn't close. Every time I close it, it just opens again and the power light keeps flashing on the xbox 360.

Why is this happening?

Why am I doing wrong?

Is it because I need to spoof the replacement drive as a Lite-On 93450C?

Thanks

When you flashed the drive, did you remember to click Outro/ATA Reset before you disconnected everything?

Yes mate I did. I have just tried putting the stock FW on again, but I have the same problem.

Do I need to spoof the drive as a Lite-On 74850C?

No spoofing is needed because as frazzeld said, all phat Lite-On drives become 0251 after the update. All you need is the 0251 stock firmware, just spoof your drive key and write it to the drive.

This is what I did:-

I used the original drives stock firmware (LiteOn 93450C) as the 'Source Firmware' in Jungle flasher. I then got a blank 02510C firmware from the internet and used that as my 'Target Firmware'. I then clicked on 'Spoof source to target' to get the correct key and then went on to flash my drive.

Am I doing this right or did I do something wrong above.

Cheers

If the firmware is spoofed correctly (with your drive key) and the write goes OK, check all your connections on the XBOX making sure everything is secure and the right way around.

Yes, When I downloaded the 0251C firwmware, I had 'FFFFFFFFFFFF' as my key, so I clicked on 'Spoof source to target' to use the key of my xbox 360 motherboard.

The dvd took the xbox live update but it just won't close, so it can't play any games...

I have just tried a BenQ drive with this motherboard (put the correct key and everything) and the BenQ drive works fine and plays games.

...But I need to use a Lite-On drive with this motherboard, as the original drive that came with this xbox 360 was a Lite-On and not a BenQ.

Guys, is it ok for me to just add the Liteon-OFW.bin as the 'Source Firmware' as I don't have the 'Dummy.bin' file.

???

The same thing is happening - the replacement Lite-On DVD drive tray will not stay closed. When I close the tray, it just opens again.

If I had a 93450C and I flashed the this drive to the very latest version of ixtreme LT, will the latest xbox live update flash the drive back to 0251C stock firmware?

Near Melbourne , Australia
not recommended !
should update with stock, but if you have already had the drive updated online, they will be expecting that 0251 firmware
