done that, not getting any power lights, uninstalled reinstalled but not showing in DM even tho drivers are there in windows>system32>drivers

you got to have both the molex connected and the usb. you dont get any power from usb alone. the usb is for retrieving the drive key only

ok... will try that first chance i get, but i read somewhere you arnt supposed to use both, or was that when using the HD adaptor. if it is i feel such a gimp. and apologise to everyone.hi,

I just got one of these drives, and it was manufactured April 2010. The thing is, i'm not sure whether it's been flashed or not.
My original xbox drive wasnt a 74850C for my xbox, but it was a lite-on. Are there any extra steps that I need to take in order to get this to work, or do I only follow the instructions on this tutorial.

Hope you might be able to shed some light on my current problem. I'm trying to flash a new 74850c purchased in a 360 Arcade last week, manufactured in June 2008.
Even though i'm new to the forum I'm not a noob at flashing, a mate and I have been doing this since 2007. This is the first time we've come across the seemingly perennial 'Serial Data is Bad' error message.
Through a process of trial and error and having read this thread in depth, it's looking like the CK3 pro is causing the problem in this case. The fact is JungleFlasher can see my drive, but my computer is not detecting the CK3 Pro by USB and molex, even with the drivers installed. However when I connect using RS232, Jungleflasher detects an extra COM; port something that doesn't happen with USB.
Having eliminated a series of things that could be causing the problem and followed online solutions and tutorials to the letter, as far as I can see something is not working on the CK3 Pro.
Do you think I need to replace it?

hi,
after installing the drivers for the usb did you reboot? you may have tried this but turn off your pc, connect everything up and and reboot your pc. See if it is recognised in device manager and make sure youve checked all the the com ports

Hi, I've just brought myself the Blaster CK3 to flash my 74850C LiteOn. Please don't beat me up for it because I really need to ask!
I definately 100% for sure DO NOT have to perform a full MRA hack to flash this drive do I? I can simply whip the back off, probe it and then flash the drive and it will play games fine and not suddenly die of a bad laser in a month because I didn't full dump the drive.
This guy here http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showpost.php?p=256221&postcount=9 to me seems to be saying at the bottom of the post theres a possibility that not MRA hacking could be causing problems, but theres a sticky in the tutorials not 2 months old saying it catagorically ISNT a problem and not needed. Just a bit of conflicting info I'm seeing after reading countless posts and tutorials getting up to speed!

hey guys i follow step by step and reading lots of tuturails but it's saying when i press DVDkey32 (Dummy.bin is missing some drive specific info... If this is an old dummy.bin that predates ix1.5 then if possible you should re-extract your drive info again with the latest tools!!!!

if its flashed with old firmware then click dummy from iextreme and itll dump your key. no need to click dvd key 32.
I did what you tell to do and come back again same problem but now it's bigger because now even the drive its not open or close and i could not detected i try to learn but i messed up my console ! more reading now to get nit back to live if i can !!
