Why? Everyone else has read the Tutorial and it's perfectly legible and understandable.

Start over and double-check that you've done everything 100% properly since if you have a valid chipset you should have no problems.

Try using another USB port and go through it once more. You should be able to successfully get all of the files needed. If you're not getting the files then you have something wrong.

I am trying to flash this drive using the ck3 pro plus the probe. I am getting tons of serial data is bad errors when I dump. I am using USB to dump. I have actually gotten 3 1kb files(key.bin, etc., no serial.bin) saved using jungle flasher's newest release, all but serial.bin. I can see the key that is dumped manually in the log file. I often can dump 2 or four keys before it errors out. The furthest I've gotten is 6 keys and 3 bins before it errors out in 6 hours of trying My question is can i manually use these keys to flash my drive with only the three bin files saved and not serial.bin? If so, what do I need to do?

have you tried using a diff JF. i know that 1.71 gave me probs like that, then went to 1.67 or 1.73 and all is good now. Bad serial is usually the drive door not being right(vendor mode), but in the 74xxx case it could be that you are moving the probe during read/dump of keys.

guessing the drive is present, try hitting outro then start over. or reboot then try.

As long as your get they dummy.bin or at least your DVD key before you hit the erase button then you can't go wrong.
If the tray isn't half open, you won't be able to get your key anyway.

Re: Open tray error.

I have fixed many lite on drives with the open tray error either from long time use or from just flashing all you have to do is look at the two pots on the back of the laser hook a OHMS meter up to it and reset the resistance back between 4.0 to 4.7 don't go under 2.7 or you will fry the laser.

yo hades , when you loasd the FW it needs to be in the JF/firmware folder. or just use the browse button.

"pot tweaks".........
Hitachi & benQ = 3.6 ohms
sammy... 3.72

thats all so far.

hey barelynotlegal thanks for answereing back but I do have it in the JF firmware folder and I'm gonna try just browsing to it on my desktop but it still says it can't open it for some strange reason I've even tried putting just the extracted file in the JF firmware folder and I tried just the extracted files in the JF firmware folder

P.S. wouldn't 3.6 ohms be to low there's no need to go that low is there

well I decided to go ahead and ignore that autoload for some stupid reason and I tried loading everything in the firmware tool 32 tab I really thought I got everything loaded right looked just like the pics except for some stuff at the very bottom flashed it, it said it was good and perfect the rest of the tutorial when fine but know when I hook it up it will only play movie dvd's and not any games burnt or store bought does this mean i've bricked it and it's done or can i still save it because I still have all the dump files

You've just given it a bad flash.
Nothing to worry about.
Connect your drive, put it invendor mode, half open tray. Load your original firmware, load the correct firmware, make sure the keys ate the same and flash it again.
I'd still download the latest JF though

Snaiper's post wasn't helpful because I have read the tutorial over and over as well as 50 or some posts.

I would like to give a big thanks to barelynotlegal. Before I even posted my question I read a lot of tips and tricks that you gave to others and I tried them all including different ports, SATA cables, and PC molexes. You have been a great help to a lot of people. Also thanks to modmonster and liaringlass for at least replying and trying to help. Jungleflasher would abort early the furthest I got was all files except serial.bin and dummy.bin. What I ended up doing was extracting my key in dos with DOSFlash because somehow the erase went wrong. Even in DOS I got a lot of errors. I was very tempted to resort to soldering a tiny bit of wire into the hole. Finally I did get a couple keys which I compared to a printout of the jungleflasher keys I got and proceeded to erase and write iextreme 1.5.
Then i went back into jungleflasher and I still couldn't get a dummy from iextreme. When I downloaded the latest version of jungleflasher I still had problems but after an hour of reboots and retries and power cycles and bad writes I eventually got iextremeLT in there.
I just wish I had read barelynotlegal's post about the jungleflasher version first! Next time, modmonster, I may go with dummy.bin only. I'm not sure if my key will be backed up that way though.
Anyway...Happy modding!
