Ok so heres the deal,

after all my squeeling and crying the last few days worrying about if i had a dead pcb replacement from TX paid off with patience and dedication. I managed to get the damn thing in vendor mode on my onbaord sata and flashed with the 2.0 LT firmware plus my key. Ok so im playing my backups now hooray....but heres the thing....

the thing has gone back into lock mode (the TX pcb) its at status 0x51 so i cant verify my flash nor can i put it back in vendor mode......

Is this normal behaviour at this stage....lets say i want to upgrade it..how do i get it out of 0x51 mode?

Do i use dosflash or will i need now for sure an x360usb pro?

intros etc are not working as before....(again this is on my home sata onboard chipset ICH10R and JMICRON)

any help wil be appreciated

thanks

Your chipset is fine for the 0225, you dont need a usbpro. You seem to have other issues though. What are you trying to achieve and why are you using dosflash not JF?

usbpro gets rid of the problems with on board sata i reccomend it wicked bit of kit
Its a good piece of kit yes but not always necessary and certainly not whats causing this guys problems. The ICH10R chipset is fully compatible with 0225/0401 etc.

i got my original key etc with the onboard sata just fine. had problems with the blank TX pcb for a few days but it suddenly worked (may be because i tried another sata connector and checked the port code in dosflash before using JF.

So i flashed everything fine. Intro, CK3 power cycle, vendor mode. Load dummy.bin, load 2.0 lt 0225 firmware and then spoof my key to the cfw. Go to MTKFLASH and erase first to be sure. Then flash. All banks flash ok. Then hit outro 2/3 times. Drive is good but returns a status of 0x51.

Anyways i tried to verify by putting it back to vendor mdoe but it wouldnt have it.

Backups are working, originals are working. im gona have a problem when new firmware comes out and i will need to flash......

what is the common way of getting out of the 0x51 status

oh yeah the TX pcb once put back in the xbox i moved the switch to 1 locking it for further mods from M$. but that makes no difference to me trying to read the key from it. slimkey failed it says....

any ideas

Whats your mobo? Its quite possible you are failing as you are trying to connect with the jmicron. This will not work. You have to be using th ICH10r. Make sure you are using this and the lock switch is in the open (1) position.

To clarify:

1 = unlocked

0 = locked

why would jmicron not work? i used it to read my original pcb before the update. (ah is this why it read because ti was before m$ has updated it from their dash update. ive not tried it since the original pcb)

So your saying the jmicron doesnt read the keys off the TX pcb is that right? I should try the ICH10 Chipset instead? makes sense.....i shal try when i get time........

would this be the same for the original pcb too now also? if i stick that in and try read it that should fail too with 0x51???

---------- Post added at 22:04 ---------- Previous post was at 22:02 ----------

to clarify....the chip now is in the locked position 0...but that made no difference.....on both settings....still 0x51

my board a asus P5Q3 ICH10R + JMICRON (8 SATAs all in all)

Yes you need to make sure your connected via a port that uses the ich10r chipset.

Mine was the same, jmicron jmb363 would not work for slim drives but the ICH10r is fine. I have done about six or so with no problems.

yeah but my original slim 0225 drive got dumped using a jmicron....why cant i do the same on the new TX board which has now been flashed with working cfw and my key?

Doesnt make sense.....im not flashing....just want to get to vendor mde to verify the key

thanks everyone by the way....quick responses

Are you certain about that? And also you may manage to get the key with the jmicron but flashing it etc is a different ball game.

Most sata chipsets are just not compatible with slim drives. ICH10R is one of the very few.

Anyway connect with ICH10R.

Use Jungleflasher.

Set switch to 1.

Press the spi unlock button in jungleflasher. The status should change.

Intro/power cycle the drive

You should then be in vendor mode.

Just follow the jungle flasher tutorial and you cant go wrong.

Also if you don't see the spi unlock button in jungle flasher like its un-clickable you will need a x360usb because i had the same issue with my TX pcb once i got the 360usb everything was perfect and working great. Always great to have one regardless what drive or 360 you have specially if you plan on flashing for others ETC. And or whenever updating at first i didn't want to spend the money on one either but when i finally did i was so glad i did money well spent.

Thanks again to everyone trying to help me out.....

have not tried yet with the spi unlock button....i will try it and hopefully have some results. If not i think i will end up buying the usb pro anyways as im not going to invest those hours i spent on my xbox for someone else.....no chance....its too flakey. But because i have stuck my xbox all back together again and i know its working fine with backups etc i think i will need it till the time comes to flash it with newer firmware.

I guess it must be ok since i know i spoofed it with my key before i flashed it....and it is playing everything spot on....

thanks again everyone for all the help and i will deffo order a usb pro (when everyone gets them in stock again)

HEHEHEHE :) just a guess thats whats happening of course
