LITEON 74850 Liteon stopped working

hello, I have a liteon (idk which version) drive flashed with LT (not LT+). Everything used to work fine (this box does not have the kinect update), and all of a sudden it stopped reading anything, and would just say OPEN TRAY. I opened it up and cleaned the lens on the laser. Now it reads dvds, and originals, and even older backups. It DOES NOT however, read any backups wave 4 and up (although it used to, and there have been no changes to the firmware, or updates)... all it says is "play dvd" and then takes me to the white screen with the xbox logo (not the one with all the foreign writing)

Do you think this is a laser problem, or do you think that the LT firmware somehow magically got destroyed? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks.

Yes mate its the laser just get a new laser and youll be fine

ok, so i thought i'd give this a shot just for the sake of it.

I put a wave 4+ boot disc in, and wave 4 and up works with the boot disc. could this mean it's not a laser problem and somehow magically got modded down from LT to ix 1.6?

If it didnt get modded down, then how is it acting like it's 1.6? (again, it just stopped working one day out of no where, so it was not physically possible for the firmware to have changed.)

Firmware cant get modded doen on its own lol, reflash it but disconnect the laser ribbon and see if that works
