LITEON DG-16D4S - SLIM Liteon wont hold FW

Hi ,

Some of you may remember me of old Klutsh times, just to clarify my experience. But sometimes its just strange.
Here we go.

SLIM Console Liteon 16D4S with 0272 FW

- Read FW several times before Sputnik 360 install
-Install Sputnik 360 (all fine!)
-Hook up to my pc with x360USB Pro and CK3PRO
-Running JF 1.92 beta with complete FW pack inside workfolder

And now the problem:

-Drive not show up in JF but i can get fine into vendor mode
-Unlocking and locking works fine all the time
-Chip properties show up correctly
-Erase works fine

-FLASH doesnt work fine and i`ve tried alot of different FW`s like stock and older Ixtreme files....nothing
Seems to write it but the verification failed.( Indeed i know its NOT flashed proper)

I´ve rechecked all solder connections twice and also cleaned and resoldered it again. The switch is working fine also i can see the chip and can erase it. But no flashing....

Im runnin a Win 7x64 AHCI machine wich should doesnt matter cause that the first drive i get problems with.

Any advice or help would be appreciated!!!

it look the pcb board its bricked it never happen to me with a liteon but it did with a old benq

Bricked cause of? I know my post count isnt that great but im well experienced in soldering and got not a single problem while im doing it. Also why can i the go into vendor mode, erase the drive, unlock and lock it fine? I thought if the PCB is bricked its not possible to achieve vendor mode or Chip properties.

even if is bricked you can still go to a vendor mode but you cant flash ....do you try to put the drive back to you console and then hook back to the comp.. to see if works? im not saying anything about you soldering the reason the pcb brick is sometimes a bad flash

It doesnt get recognized in the box anymore so doesnt inside JF. Just vendor mode works.
That state happens after switch installation. I wasnt able to flash it even once.
So its confirmed vendor mode/unlocking,locking and also erasing works fine even if the pcb is bricked??
A bad key cannot result in that?

I've had a similar problem with that liteon drive.

1. Make sure you have power and all you have your connections in the right way

2. In JF , Make sure you are flashing the correct port.

3. In JF , If you get the "Write verify Failed" just click "Write" until it verifies "OK" (Took me several tries but it finally was verfied eventually). Same process if JF freezes on you while writing, just click "Write" once you have functionality back. Keep writing until it Verifies "OK".

I Flashed my drive with homemade tools, you seem to have the proper hardware so you shouldn't have a problem.

Most people plug the power in backwards, I hope that is not the case.

That wont help, have tried it several times Also it fails at Read dump failed .
The writing usually should be done already like to see in the pic, but i guess its nothing on there.

And power backward....Seriously i know some beginners do such but not i. Have flashe dhundreds of drives before. Thats the FIRST with problems.

Have you tried ticking the phat option instead of Slim?

Sending Chip Erase to Port 0x0000
Writing target buffer to flash
Writing Bank 0: .XECUTER X360USB PRO removed.


Getting Status from port 0xF070
Invalid Status 0x0

And why should i hit PHAT, i cannot get into vendor mode with Phat ticked.

Since you can flash tx unlocked pcbs that way it was worth a shot.

You can get it with such simple commands into vendor mode?
Well ok and thanks, but that doesnt help me. Im just stucked and have no clue right now. I´ve been 20 hours with that damn slim console.

so would you say even if i can get into vendor mode, unlock nd lock and also erase the drive its still possible that its bricked?

As far as I know, you can't brick a liteon. I would say just keep trying unless someone else can input something that helps you.

Since i`ve tried over the last 20hrs i guess im stuck. Hope for Mr teajunkie to jump in and maybe clarify something. Dont want to buy a replacement PCB if mine is ok.

Hey buddy long time no see

Right i have come across this before and there is a way to recover it and it's a little bit of hassle but it does work.

Let me find the post i made about it cuz i dont remember what i had to do to get it going again

Found it eventually

I have been messing with one of these from Jacboy been a pain in the ass
finaly got it sorted now..

This is what finally made it respond.

• intro the drive as a phat and hit intro again
• click slim and intro the drive again
• click phat and intro the drive again
• Now press CTRL + SHIFT + F11
• Click slim and intro the drive
• CTRL + SHIFT + F11
• Outro ata reset

Repeat until you get a good response from the drive.
Everything i tried failed before that

Great to see you!

Ive tried your steps but no luck. I also cannot get to vendor mode with Phat option, that just works with Slim ticked. I can also like i said get into vendor mode, lock and unlock and also can erase but just cannot write it to the drive. JF write the FW but fails in the verification and reading the dump.

EDIT:

Ive noticed the spi status cjhanged after the DUmp verificaton failed to

spi status register 0x03

I guess thats a state i cannot write to....

EDIT 2:

I can get all drive properties shown up correct but just not Writing and dumping....DAMN!!!!!!

When you are writing you have set the sputnik to normal after unlocking?

Hey,
Yes for sure i switch back to normal immediately after Unlock beep sounds.
It does actually write to it all 4 stages but then JF sort of freeze and fail to read dump.
The drive is just responsible in vendor mode nothing more. I cannot open tray wether on my pc or in the xbox.
Today i`ve also tried to use the alternate switch point on top of pcb just in case, but the same result.

You think a replacement board will do the trick or is it some different?
You need some more pics or logs?
