Im a newbie here so please bear with me, i have searched on this forum and also xbox-scene and just need some clarification on using the Xecuter 2.6 with Evox and being able to play XBL games...

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to do the following.

Have Evoxdash.xbe boot from C:/bios for general game playing with the chip enabled, but when i want to play XBL from an original disc somehow have the xboxdash.xbe boot from a CD/ DVD with the modchip on, then somehow reboot with all the right parametres to be able top play XBL. When i then want to play back up games ithen just swith the xbox off/on with the chip enabled and evoxdash.xbe will load up as usual.

or is it possible to....

alternatively, have the xboxdash.xbe permantly on the c:\bios and if i want to play back up games on the hdd have to put a evoxdash.xbe CD/DVD in which will load evox but not replace the xboxdash on c:\bios

Has this been answered elsewhere if so please can you point me in the right direction.

Sorry if already posted but have used the search for over an hour now.

Sounds like you're trying to make things a lot more complicated than they need to be, or have just gotten confused.

First, C:\Bios will probably only be used when updating the BIOS on your chip. I wouldn't put any dashboard or other files in there.

EvoX (or Avalaunch, or XBMC, etc.) can live happily along side of the MS dash. It isn't a "choose only one" sort of deal. In the early days of modding you had to rename the MS dash and replace it with the dash of choice. Current BIOSes can be set to load different files, the 5035 X2CL BIOS has an ini file where you can configure the dash search order. With your mod chip on it will boot the dashboard you've specified, such as evoxdash.xbe. With your chip disabled it will behave like a stock Xbox, load the MS dash and be perfectly fine for Xbox Live.

If you plan on replacing your HDD there will be additional steps needed to make sure your box is able to load the MS dash and be XBL ready. Whether or not you plan on replacing your drive you should still backup your virgin Xbox C and E drives to your PC. Now that you're going to have access to tools not provided by MS you have the abilty to really goof your drive.
