hey, I modded my hitachi drive a few days ago and it works great... however, it takes a few times of ejecting and closing the tray for the 360 to read the disk. I am not sure if there is any fix for that, or if everyone has the problem. I got box in December of 2005. Ohh and I burn the disks at either 1X or 2X - 2.4X so I don't thinks its a burning is issue.

...moving to the Backups forum

First of all, did you use the latest firmware for your drive ? Maximus-GaryOPA Xtreme v2.3r2 is the latest.

What burner are you using?
What media are you using?
What burning program?
Are you bitsetting?

Also, what error are you getting when the games don't load? Open tray?

The firmware is the Maximus-GaryOPA Xtreme v2.3r2... unless it changed since I flashed it, which was on the 8th of this month. I am using a plextor DVD burner... not sure which specific model (maybe the px-755uf)... but at the time it was the best. The media that I use to burn the DL DVD is memorex which is has the red packaging when you buy it. I burn the iso's with Clone Cd and I am not using bitsetting, cause I thought they said it not important, however, they say you still might want to do it.

The error message that I get when the game doesn't load is open tray... and when the disc is in when I turn the box on is unreadable.

Thanx a lot for your help. :D

Buy a Pioneer 111D burner and some Verbatim media and all of your problems will magically disappear.

I would use imgburn if I were you. Its all I use, it works great (no bad burns yet), and its free! I bought a 5-pack of memorex to start with and had mixed reception. Sometimes it would work great, others not at all. It it probably the dye in the media (would be my guess).

I have since switched to verbatim (with my 111d) and haven't had any issues since.
