i had the chip installed (x3, also have 160wd hd), i flashed the bios and everything worked great. then i put my xbox game in and it froze up on me. i took the game out, rebooted and now when it boots i get the flubber and when it says rox my box it just hangs there for like 3 or 4 min. then i get the x3cl sreen and everything looks good, untill i try and boot to the dashboard. and it just hangs again, usually 5 or more min. ive tired both ava and evo. when ava does finally come up its like everything is working again. if i try and play a backed up game i get crazy load time and looks like 3fps. not really worried bout that right now(playing the games).. i searched the web and these fourms but didn't really find anything just like my situation. i'm not really sure how to wipe out the bios and try again so i flipped the dip switches to off, on, off off off... and reloaded x3 bios and still same problem. how do i erase the bios out? any help would be great. also if whoever reads this has the time when i disable the chip i get a code 13 and i can't get the ms dash to load...not that i really care bout that right now just throwing it in. thanks again.

hello,

i had a problem just like your installing multiple hd's w/x-tender. the problem might be your ide cable might not be secured properly. in addition, you might want to check if your hd is on cable select.

i hope this helps.

ok... i opened the box checking my cables, all were good. the hd is in cable select mode.. i unpluged the chip and it fired up but went to the ms screen with my error code.. so i put my old hd back in and with the chip still unpluged it fired up fine.. i pluged the chip back in with my old (stock) hd and the chip came on fast. when i told it to boot to dash it took me back to the ms one.. i then treid the disable button and it worked too, right to ms dash.. so is my problem in my new hd maybe? can i wipe that hd by formatting without hurting anything?

the new hd is not locked at the moment but it is lockable.. the only thing bout the hd is i bought it from a good company that sells xbox hd.. so i would like to just erase it and try again before i start to complain to them... so i just format all the drives that should do it right?

HDD Loading times also vary depending on what speed your HDD is
e.g 5400 rpm 7400 rpm and cache 2mb or 8mb

well since i got so much help fixing my problem last time, i need a lil more help. i reformatted my new hd now and copyed over all my original files from c and e to my new one and now i have no dash to boot to. so i think i reload x3 bios back on. (i ftp in and went to admin, then bios band 1234 and put the file in) everything is still booting fine now but i still have not dashboard. so i went and got evo and put it in my c drive and still nothing. i set the x3 bios to pick it first and where it is located at but i musta missed a step somewhere. if i disable the chip i still get the code 13 screen, but i would rather have evo or ava on there... did i do the flash part right. if not how do i get back to that flashbios screen? and as usual thanks for any help that yall can give.

no you can put it on c:...if you put it on e: you need to make sure the bios searches e: for the dashboard in x3cl....and for that second to last post....um which dashboard is slayers again?

i've got pretty much everything working but i had to manually put the dash in and hddloader and all the other programs. i tryed to use slayers disk but it wouldn't never load in there so i said screw it and just went back to ftping in it manually. the only thing is that i don't really know which partion which files on it.. it got it go boot dashboard and finally got hddloader to work but in ava i have to us file manger to get to it.. then after i do backup a game i have to ftp in and move it to a different file for evox to find it.. so i know i messed up the locations. does anybody have a good guide of where which files go where or if not just a quick run down for hddloader and avav and evox.. that all i'm really usuing.... and by the way when i'm playing halo2 it has soo much lag in it, both on the harddirve and running it from disk... i put my old hd back it and it works great off of disk.. the hd is a wd 160 7200 but i think it s 2mb cache.

So you formatted as previously suggested and it’s still throwing error codes at you....

If I were you I would start over from scratch with this new HDD.

1) If IDE, power and jumpers (cable select) are hooked up fine then there shouldn’t be any hardware problems (unless your drive is damaged, we can get to that later), so you can move to step 2, obviously if you see an installation problem such as loose cable, fix it.

2) Format the drive (I know , again) through the X3 bios, found under Disk Tools, make sure you don’t have the Stock Xbox configuration selected (so you can take advantage the extra space).

3) I would recommend getting some kind of auto installer such as Firefuckers EVOX Disc, Slayers auto installer or any other kind of packaged dash installer. (If you need help locating an Auto installer email, IM, or drop me a message and ill help ya)

4) When you boot up the installer, choose the LARGE installation method and normal install (choose stealth if you use Live, but your gonna have to set the X3 to boot from the F, or G partition depending on which one you installed the dash to.)

5) Once the install is done, restart the box and boot back to the X3 bios, select in Live Config which partition for the X3 to search for a dash. (This will be the partition you chose to install all the software from the Auto installer - its gonna be F or G is you did a stealth install)

6) Cold Reboot the box and see if it boots to the Dash or your choice, hopefully this will work fine for you, and your load times are now optimal. Also try booting to the M$ Dash with the X3 chip on and then off (through evox or avalaunch when the chip is on). Hopefully by now the hard drive should be working fine.

7) Finally, if your still getting error codes, it’s probably a bad hard drive, I’d either return it and exchange it (try a different brand or model if you can). If that’s not an option, id try to hook it up to any PC, format it through windows (or Linux), and run some basic hard drive tools on it to check for bad sectors. Also see if it can pass a S.M.A.R.T. test.

Hope this helps, and like me said, contact me if you need any help!

Sorry for the Novel....
