Long story, I'll try to explain

My son's xbox was modded by a student at the college last year. As best as I can figure out it is a 1.3 model xbox with the 2.6 lite mod chip. I am unsure of the type since if I use the video bios method of identifing it is a 1.3 but the serial leads me to believe it should be a 1.4. I am guessing on the chip as well, but it has the corner cut off like the 2.6 lite. I hope this is the right information. On with the story. He was trying to change resolution from avalaunch for a dvd movie and for some reason he shut off the xbox. His explaination was that it had stalled. After he restarted it, it would make sounds like it was starting, but no video. After disabling the chip I noticed that it was stuck in a sequence of trying to start and then rebooting, but still no video. If you switched the third switch to bank 2 it came up to a screen that said flash bios 3.0.3 but the video rolled so badly that I was unable to read anything except for "for help go to teamexecuter.com/flashbios".

I searched the forums and decided that the bios must have been fried, so I read the faq on flashing the bios. I guess that i got the wrong bios, i used x2.4983 which it seemed was the right one. I followed the directions as best as I could, and it appeared that it was done correctly because the xbox dvd opened, I put the cd with dummy.bin and bios.bin in, shut the dvd and the machine shut off.

Now, as I am sure you can guess, I have the classic three boot and frag?sequence. If I disable the mod chip it will still try to boot, but again no video and the dvd eject button is flashing red-green but at least it doesn't seem to be rebooting.

My quess is that I'll need a programmer? to fix it, as I don't know anyone with a modded xbox to try to hot-swap? to re flash it. If that is the case, where do I find this mythical animal, or is there another avenue for me to persue?

Thanks in advance.

Ok.

I think the video settings were changed on the Xbox, hence the no picture and rolling FlashBIOS.

I then think you flashed a 256k BIOS to you chip where it needed to be 512k.

What's on bank 2 of the chip?

If you want to go the programmer route (and are in the US, maybe CAN too) now may be the best time to do so. Chip vendor "The Modchip" is clearing out some older X2 programmers. You can read the post where someone mentions it (and includes a link to the vendor) plus my notes regarding flashing below. Under $10USD for the programmer, shipped.

You will still need to fix the EEPROM issue - Once flashed properly, you'll need to get something like Enigmah Videomode Switchdisc to change it back to NTSC.
