I had the same issue on my 1.0

The connector appeared to be backward from how the pics in the install guide indicated.

I ended up just sticking the PCB elsewhere.

How do I format a 20GB HDD that my 360 wont recognise?

I was trying to edit my profile using Xport360, I clicked back up imagine or something, and basically I think I've wiped the files from it, or deleted something I shouldnt. Since then the HDD doesnt show up in memeory when I connect it to a 360, and when I connect it to a PC via transfer cable with Xport 360, it comes up saying it my be corrupt, and I'm unable to view any files on the drive. I'm not bothered about wiping the files that are on it. Just want it working again.

Does anyone know how to get this working again? Or even if there's a way I could format it, and put the standard files you get on the HDD when you first get one with your xbox?
