I'm stuck at the end of FiB3r's tut. I get xex flash screen up on the box and then it hunts for xenon.xex on the hhd usb etc. I looked into the FSD and the installer and I see they are providing a default.xex file. What did I miss?

Try a different USB drive. I'm guessing that is your problem. It's more likely that then a bad USB port. :)

make sure you have the PSU removed from the console.
plug in your USB stick
THEN plug in the PSU.
Try booting it like this.

Remember the console has a standby voltage and sometimes USB devices are not detected if connected afterwards.

You're turning it on with the eject button!!! What do you expect it to do???

Multi_builder actually tells you this if you read the 'have a nice day' screen.

I found that strange too and thought I missed something. Xell loaded to nandflash ok so I'm confused what the problem is. Does it boot with the power button?

Martin, I appreciate your willingness to help us noobs out. As you can see I'm definitely ignorant in this area and am trying to learn and absorb. I think there is a gap in my knowledge on what to do next.

When booting with the power button I get taken to the micro$oft dash.

This is what I'm after at this point; adding more storage then my regular xbox 16g hhd so I can play games directly since the dvd rom in this box is bad. I assumed the first step was performing the RGH which I believe you are confirming is good. I have tried to use http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77051 but using the USB thumb drive by booting with power or eject doesn't produce any noticeable results.
Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you again!

So it's working then. You have an RGH console!

If the DVD drive doesn't work, you'll need another method to boot to FSD etc.

I was hoping that was the case. I couldn't have gotten this far without your support! (Especially when I fried and ripped off those pads  ) My big quandry is what to do now :D Is my next step the installation of xexmenu or dashlaunch (or both)?

Without a drive or any other loader program I'll need to manually move files over to the HDD by a connectivity kit or by dis-assembly of the drive and a direct sata connection. Is this correct?

Dashlaunch is already installed if you chose the option during the creation in multi_builder.

Here's what you need to do.

1. Format a USB Stick as a Memory Unit in the Xbox.
2. Download the XeXMenu 1.1 dash version (link in the post you linked to above) and Party Buffalo USB Explorer.
3. Copy the C0DE9999 folder from the XeXMenu rar file into Data\Content\0000000000000000 on your new USB MU. (you will need to create the 0000000000000000 folder).

4. Put it into the console and under Game Demos you should see XeXMenu.

There's more to do, but this will get you started. Do a LOT more reading on what else you need.

Martin, Thank you again! Party Buffalo was the key I was missing.

For some reason I must have been overlooking or didn't find that step anywhere.

I have now come full circle;

working stock box to a hacked soldered pile rubbish to a QSB working box to a glitched box to a fully functioning game player! Thank you.

Now it's time to load FSD and figure out how to store the games on a NAS. You can mark this thread answered.
