Flashed drive with new xtreme and now I want to read it again... I am told I need to load the 0800 disc, but I have read read and read and cant find any tutorial on this. My prob is that I cannot read the drive now because xtreme uses firmguard
this is a quote from Textbook:

In order to disable FirmGuard (so that you can read/write to the drive again) you will need to use the 0800 disc. Refer to the tutorial where it mentions upgrading the firmware.

I cannot seem to find this tut anywhere?? HELP.

OK I found this below from an old TUT, but just to recap I am not doing this to rip backups, I only want to reflash my orig.bin. I am told that I cannot read drive until it is in 0800 mode.

Connect the Samsung drive to the PC.
Power on the Xbox 360.
Burn activate.iso to a Dual Layer DVD+R disc.
Insert activate DVD into the Samsung drive.
Wait 5 or so seconds then remove the activate DVD.
Drive now in 0800 mode

The samsung drive does not need to be connected to the SATA on the PC. Just ensure you have burned the enable 0800 disk pop it in the drive and count to atleast 15 then eject Firmguard should now be disabled

yep or you could do bad flash method
Bad flash method is only for an ms28 and as of yet he has not stated his drive ms25 or ms28.

If in doubt please read the upgrading firmware part of the tutorial as i think you may have missed it ;)

Plus it would help if you stated what drive you had mate ms25 or ms28

Firmguard is essentially the same as an MS28 lockout protection. If you have a VIA chipset, you can use the bad-flash (10-second) recovery method to read and write to the drive just like it was an MS28. Remember, only works if you have a VIA.

Alternately, you can use the 0800 disc to disable FirmGuard (makes it like an MS25).

Got it! BTW, I found that in the original TUT I printed out near the back, It was in there, I just missed it. Anyway that one is fixed. I have another that has a bad laser it is sammy MS25 with HD63 laser. I have on hand a brand new HD67 which looks identical. Can I simply replace the HD63 with the HD67? Well, I can answer myself on that one. I tried it and it did not work. So now I have a drive with a bad laser flashed with newest xtreme I cannot run the 0800 disc because the laser is bad, will not read it. I also tried putting in the HD67 laser and I was going to reflash MS28 but I am in a catch 22 because I cannot get the HD67 laser to work with the MS25 fw. Is all this making sense to you Text? I have read all over where HD63 can and cannot replaced with HD67. My thinking is that it can if you have the right fw. Do you have any experience here. Sounds like the simplest solution is to buy HD63 laser. What do you think?

When I replaced my laser, I made sure it was the same kind. Sorry, that's all I know about it.
