Lost Key backup

Ok first off. When Microsoft went through their whole ban process around when the Halo 3 beta was out I got banned. Here recently my friend's Xbox 360 broke down (wich I modded for him) he said he didn't want it any more and gave it to me. He never got on live hence His console isn't banned. Well after getting the console back and working, the DVD drive burned out (litterly). However my banned console's drive is still working fine. The only problem is that I need the original key from my friend's drive. So I can flash mine with his so it will work on his motherboard. I wan't iXtreme, I haven't yet got over wanting to play my backups online. Can I do this even though I don't have my friend's key for his drive. I know I'm a fool for not keeping his key.

you need the key.
are you sure it wont read.
someone maybe able to get the key off the chip even if the drive is dead

Yea It's dead, I mean the tray won't eject. The laser moves, and the thing smells funny. I tried the chip in my working drive same effect. Tray won't eject. Its the power connector strip that smells funny. I feel so stupid right now I had it working and connected to my pc last night, I just forgot about the enable800 disc :'(

So there is absoulutly no way I can take the serial and make it compatble with my drive. I mean frick. Now I'm going to have to buy a new 360 just to play on live.

there are some people that can get the key by taking the chip off and reading it with a programer.someone here says he can look at the treads.ill see if i can find it .if i do ill post back

Ah don't bother. I decided to get out of the modding crap. I have money, and can afford a new game about every 3 weeks. I also decided to get a new Xbox 360 tommorow. I scrounged up every one of my games I don't play any more and my console. So I should get about $300 or more. Thats enough for a new Premuim console.

Just tell me if this is a good idea.
I trade in my console and games to GameStop. Then go down the street and buy a new Xbox 360 from another GameStop.

I mean it looks weird if you trade in your Premuim Xbox for another Premuim Xbox right? I guess I could tell them the one I have now just doesn't run that smooth anymore but it works. But then they could knock off some money.
