Low Voltage after Multiple Solders

First time modder, trying to get this sucker to work and having a heckuva time. Guess what? Im fragging, but I know enough its probably soldering....so I checked all the solder points.

Im running a good ole 1.0. Everything installed and after checking LPC all voltages look good except for the Lclk connection that should receive 2 volts is only recieving 1.5-1.6 after resoldering over a dozen times. Is this normal and will it stop it from working?

Saw the section on checking resistances....if they are off does that mean a trace is broken?

Also seperate issues:

Are the led connectors needed at all or are they all for visual pleasure?

The red wire on the white connector to the chip is receiving no voltage from the board at all....is this normal? Does the HD need to be plugged in for it to receive power?

The Lan led is not lighting either, but the white connector is recieving 3.3 v I believe.....any clues?

Hope these questions arent too redundant, but after searching for hours and hours I was hoping for a little help.

Appreciate the responses

Does the Xbox work with the chip off? The chip install may not be your problem. Check your switches to make sure they are working and properly plugged in.

The HDD and LAN wires do not need to be soldered, they are for looks only.

Where do you have the red wire soldered to? Sounds like both that and the LAN wire may be soldered to the wrong spot.

Xbox works fine with the switch off...and the switch is getting power because one of the lights is on............

red wire is soldered to the top right solder point of the row of about 10 near the header pin.

Well.....hrm...I checked all the photos and believe they are in the right spot...should they light even though the HD isnt connected?

I also noticed that when I turn on the xbox the color is slightly off..guess I did something to the d0?

I'll try and get a picture in the morning.

Thanks for reply....really bugging me that I cant get it working.

You said there is only one light on the switch. Flip the LED enabled switch. Sometimes they are labeled backwards.

When I flip the led switch they do all turn on. I thought that was some kind of test to see if the leds are working or something.......so I guess I should have the switch so all the leds are on?

So I guess that leads me back to my first question....if all my leds are on, my voltages are all good on the header pin except for lclk and the box works when the switch is turned off......what am I missing?

Im a little frustrated that I bought the chip online and paid for the solderless version, and got shipped the solder version...............and its being a PIA. All the help is really appreciated and Im really looking forward to getting this up and running!

So my camera is a pos...and I think it is broken now after running up the stairs to answer the phone (my wife, about nothing important), tripping and launching it through the kitchen to smash into the stove in a million tiny pieces.....ok ok, not that bad, but its still screwed up. Hopefully these last couple pics I took will at least redeem the death of my digital.

I have a couple b/c I couldnt seem to get a good pic of the connections...sorry if too big.

Only one pin out per xbox 1.0

Ugly soldering on header, get that way after so many solders and another pic of the wire connections

Dont Let My Camera Die In Vain!

Thanks again!

It doesn't matter if you have the lights on or off. If you like flashing lights, leave them on. It was nice of team xecuter to give us an easy way to turn them off though.

Did you check your switches with a multimeter?

A soldered chip is much more reliable than a solderless. Although I would contact your reseller and get your money back you paid for the adaptor.

Ok, after a little more investigation I can see the switch is getting power, all the leds are operable. It has the 5v in............but for some reason it does not have 5v out at all................Im not sure why. I've tried having the switch on and off doesnt matter....no 5- out from the schematics in your sig. Any ideas?

Im half tempted to splice from the 5+ and see if that boots it up.

On a side note....the color of my screen now is darker on the right side when I attempt to use the xbox.....did I overheat something or could this just be caused by poor/dirty soldering on the D0?

Looking at your soldering I would say that is likely the problem. It looks rather messy. How hot is your iron?

Make sure you put tape over all your solder joints before putting the board back into the case.

I resoldered all the points....still the same problem...the contacts are much neater...I would send you a picture but my camera is broken  ...and they are all receiving the correct voltages on the topside of the chip when installed.

So not having any output from the 5- doesnt matter? It is receiving power to the switch, but its not leaving it even when switch is on.......
