Hi all,

Am trying to flash the M25 drive with Xtreme Boot Maker, somehow when I select any of the firmware (download from Xbin) but it complained as follows,

"You have Selected an unkown firmware.
Would you like to download a Firmware Definition Update?"

Any help is appreciated.

If you know the image is good, it will be fine to proceed. The reason that this is stated is due to the fact that XBM was released prior to the most current firmwares.

Caster,

Thanks for your quick response.

Is this warning msg common to everybody, as I did a search on this forum but had not found any, as such I posted this question? okie, I will answer No, to proceed.

Sorry if you don't mind I side-track on this.

I've just purchased a VIA VT 6421A Sata PCI adapter from one of my local comnputer shop to flash my m25 drive. I recap that one of these articles I read saying that I would need to set the SATA ports to NATIVE/IDE mode and NOT RAID. Try all my means, I can't set this, be it on the Bios Setup or Device Mgr. Nothing has been said about on the web site to download the latest software driver as the package only comes with a cd-rom. Is it really necessary to do so (setting it as NATIVE/IDE)?

My apologies for beng long-winded but just want to exercise caution.

Thanks in advance!

Danny

For a PCI card, you don't have any BIOS settings to change. Just make sure that you don't install the RAID software utility before running XBM

If you get the latest version of the XBM, and allow it to update from the internet while building the USB disk, then it should auto-update definitions and accept the 5.2 without complaint

vinomarky,

Thanks so much, downloaded from internet, I have created the XBF directory in my C:\ as I'm going to use NTFS4ODS method to boot the PC.

When I booted of my NTFS4DOS CD and go to C: drive when the XBF directory is residing, typing samread XXXXXXX XXXXX but it didn't prompt me for my VIA controller and went straight to read the firmware. However, it just hung there... showing "Reading 00....".

1) Is it becoz I didn't connect to my "primary" SATA port?
2) Is it a problem with my C: drive partition, around 20GB total capacity?

PS: I've updated the SATA driver appropriately as shown below,

I'm having a DELL PC, no built-in SATA adapater.

Any advice what I should I check further ? Many thanks in advance!

Rgds,
Danny
