Major Issues - Noob!

Ok - got my X3 modded xBox yesterday... Was pre-loaded with flash bios 3.0.3 - so far so good.

In the ensuing excitement I seemed to have blown away that, my emergency back up bios (3.0.0) and all I have left is MS dash when booting in after a long power button push. I've tried every combination of banks now, and all I get is frag.

With emergency backup boot, it flashes green for a few seconds, then goes to amber and stays there - nothing more.

I've been reading the posts all night to try to figure out how to fix. I've created a DVD, CD etc after following the instructions re Nero etc, but not even sure if I can actually boot from CD/DVD into this thing (ala installing Windoze on a new formatted drive) to restore bios.

Another thing, how does one tell what version of xbox I have?

Any help would be appreciated.

I found the following too - which leads me to believe that I can boot from CD?? If I follow these instructions - should this resolve the issue?

Download the file, rename to bios.bin, put it on a CDRW and write it as a data disc using Nero.

When you get to FlashBIOS, go to write BIOS from disc (I think it's worded) and write it to the correct sized bank.

Then load up with that bank, you'll know you've done it right when you see 'FlashBIOS 3.0.3 Unauthorised'
Then go down to Flash EEPROM vx.x and make sure you select the right version of your XBOX, then put in a CDRW with the EEPROM.bin file that you want to write back to the XBOX.

Not sure what you name it because I put 3 copies on there named eeprom.bin, bios.bin and image.bin
Let it flash, it does it very quickly, less than a second.

All done.
