making X3 2913 skins?

Is there a way to make skins for the new bios? I tried making my own .bmp the same width and height as the choke skins and edited the config file to load my bmp, but it wouldn't load. Does anyone know why?

I have an Idea

Im not sure if this will work... but try taking the choke.bmp file... edit to your liking in MS Paint ect.. then save. Dont save as new. just resave the choke.
