I think all xecuter products should come w/ a consolidated manual online! This way all features, specs, installation, and troubleshooting information could be found easily rather than searching various forums to find necessary info to install, etc.

Actually I would have to disagree with supafish, but it depends on what type of manual agippy is looking for...IF they are looking for an install manual yes supafish is correct...all the info is on the front page. BUT if they are looking for a manual to use all of the X3's cool features and bios functions...there is no manual out yet, which could be why X3 put that as a contest.

with all this info just a click away, why do people keep asking for manuals.

I don't know, it's not really a click away, more like some creativity to think of the right search string and then a click. It would definately be good to have a list of all the features in one place, like I can't remember the stuff for turning on the system, like holding the power button does something and something does something else. And I still have no idea how to soft reset the system even though I've searched for that a bunch. It just seems like the x3 has so many features that I have no idea how to use, like that on screen keyboard thing? I've never seen that.

I think a manual included in the package would be a nice touch....Up the price doesnt matter but a manual would be a nice touch.

well they are having a manuel comp so i think team x is going to take the best parts from each of the guide that people submitted and make a great guide. I also would like to know all the features that configlive has.

The competition folks have made some really great manuals. You can check them out via the TeamXecuter website. They've posted a link with them.

I feel my manual is fairly complete. *duck* (Feel free to ask me to add something I left out.)

My manual includes links to Installation, Troubleshooting, and other offsite information all grouped into one guide. I also have information on how to use the BIOS with screenshots and usefule information.

When I say "complete" I mean the guide has a huge variety of information categorically grouped. I'm sure there is more I can and will add to it in the future including more Skins documentation.

Hey - I would have been happy to have had a link to this site & forum on the product packaging.

In hindsight, installation is pretty simple but for the first-timer it's a box-0-parts and when it doesn't go right & the box frags it's panic-time & stupid questions get repeated. I know because I did it & I also know that if there would have been a link to these forums I would have been able to answer 90% of the questions I had right away instead of bouncing across Google & the 70+ xbox related favorites I have saved.

These forums are a great manual and the search function actually works here (unlike other forums) - throw a link to this site on the packaging, maybe even to a page that just says "USE THE SEARCH ENGINE, READ THE STICKYS & TUTORIALS BEFORE POSTING!" before being forwarded to the home page.

Just a thought - would reduce octangular resin from the noobish.

Removing VIA Driver

Hey Guys,

Im running Win7 64bit and have a via card installed. I was trying the jf tut las night and tried to remove the drivers for the via chipset. Everything went according to the tutorial. But my question is if i disable the drivers do i need to install new ones over it? Also my dvd drive will only show up if i have the via drivers installed, it wont show up at all if i follow the tutorial. Has anyone flashed with the standard via drivers installed? did it mess up your drive?

I just want to know if it is a big risk to do a write/erase to my drive if i have the via drivers installed.

Re: Removing VIA Driver

the principle is the same as before!
ensure you enable the card again before reboot!
worst case if you try with drivers installed is the pc will crash when it is erased.

Re: Removing VIA Driver

ok tried it at home and everytime i disable the via drivers, jf prompts that it cant find any via ports (it also cant detect the drive). So i tried it with the via drivers.

I was having problems trying to read it too, but that could just be down to me doing something stupid (LT is already on the drive). So i just used my original dummy.bin (which im 100% positive it has the correct key) to create my custom firmware with LT+. Picked the port my drive was on and did a "lite-on Erase".

The drive went into vendor mode and nothing froze. I then proceeded to do a write. Everything looked ok so i clicked the outro/ata reset. Now when i plug it into my xbox it wont read originals or backups.

Did i screw up my drive?
Is there anyway i can fix this?
Could i try just erasing it again and writing the firmware again?

I can post my JF log if that will help.

BTW thanks BraveHeart for the reply and jesus dude thats a lot of posts.

Re: Removing VIA Driver

Just load up your dummy as source again!
ensure there is a good key showing - let JF 1.76 autoload the LT+ fw ensure key is spoofed then erase and write again

but before you do all that - check all your cables!

Re: Removing VIA Driver

am i correct in thinking that its safe to load LT+ over a drive with LT as long as you do an erase and your key is correct?

Re: Removing VIA Driver

Just tried 2 more erases and writes it still didnt work. This console has been flagged for banning and played ac:B so AP25 has been run on this console. Could that be the problem?
