Hey everyone.
Got a demon here thats giving me this error (manufacturer for code BF not found) when I try to read/write the xbox 360 nand.

This console was sent in with 3 damaged demon pads. I re installed the demon and repaired the damaged points. I then used it to read the consoles nand and I wrote that to the demon. Tested and it worked.

Now I installed the DGX to the console and wrote the DGX files to the demon. Went to turn it on and I get a Ding and nothing. Retail console nand still boots fine. The DGX light flashes while the console is booting but the retail nand still booted. So I go to write the DGX file to the console nand and thats when I get the manufacturer for code BF not found.

I have since touched up all my soldering. Checked every point with a continuity tester. No shorts and everything is firmly connected. I even tried a different ribbon cable and external USB port. This is my first time seeing this error.

Anyone got a clue as to what this error means?

The switch is in the PC position. Switch it to XB and see what happens. The ribbon cable doesn't look straight either.

You also need to power the thing up. It won't read on the board as you have it.

Edit: Maybe you do have it powered. You have pics of both the 5v and gnd hooked up and without.

Yeah I tried with it on Xb and plugged into the power brick as well. I typically will leave the demon on PC and not use the Power brick when I hook it up to the computer. Then I switch it to XB before putting it back in the cage.

I've messed with the ribbon cable plenty. Tried a couple different ones too. Thanks for the Suggestion though.

See my edit. Did you have the 5v and gnd hooked up? I'm assuming you did?

The last pic was when it was all installed. I actually just took it right before I started this thread. All hooked up and ready to go.

I think your missing the point. It worked fine after I installed it. I used it to dump the nand twice. Then I wrote the nand to the demon and booted it up on both nands to test it was working. Everything was good. 2 days later I install the DGX and now I get this error.

Nope, I'm not missing the point. I was just confused by looking at the pics you provided. :p

I have seen this error and it was caused by having the switch in the wrong position. That will cause all kids of problems. That's why I asked the silly questions I did.

Does JR even recognize it as a "Demon"?

I just went through and tested all the demon QSB points against their Alt. points and everything test out good. I again tested that there are no bridges between and of the solder points.

Yup demon is recognized by windows. Although I just discovered that it wont let me switch to the console nand at all when I have the demon set to XB with the power brick plugged in. With the demon switch to PC and no power brick plugged in when I switch to the console nand its switches right back to the demon. Then I switch to the console nand again and it will stay on the console nand.

Could the problem be with my computer and not the demon and or install? I know for sometime now I havent been able to dump two nand in a row in Jrunner. I have to do one at a time. When I try to dump the console nand with the demon It will dump the first one fine but when it goes to dump the second its as if I unplugged the demon and plugged it back in. Then its switches to the demon and dumps that rather then the console.

Hmm... Its doubtful that its my computer as the Owner of the console said he had gotten that same error. In his trying to resolve the problem he ending up removing the demon and subsequently damaged the 3 pads that you see I have repaired. Although there is still something going on with my computer but that I do think would be a separate error.

Very strange. At this point I think you can rule out the Demon and your soldering as the problem. Did you by any chance check if you got the error with the Demon(s) off the board? I'm wondering if you've developed a PC issue?

I'm check continuity on the solder side of the resistors.

I wired up the nand X and tried to dump the nand again. I got bad block after bad block until it said there were to many bad blocks.

I've since removed the demon again. I still had the nandX wired up so I re dumped the retail nand. It did not match what I had gotten from the original retail dump on the demon. So I saved this new set of dumps and wrote the DGX to it. She glitched in 10 seconds and I got the key. So now I just need to figure out this demon issue.

I might finish with the DGX install. Meaning build the glitch image and get the console glitching consistently. Then I'll try writing that image to the demon before install and try to install it again.

If you guy can think of anything I should maybe test in the mean time Let me know. I'm at a lose.

Looks like there could be bridging with D6 and the resistor next to it, also the same case with D7.
