I messed up when flashing the xecuter 3 chip on both 1 and 2 banks. Is their a way to reflash the cromwell bios back on to it? It is a 1.6 model.
Thanks

I never got it to work so I was worried that I didn't have a back up? Would I have if I followed your instructions.

I saw where someone did someting close to this it worked well for me. What I did was I reflashed each 256 bank (with cromwell 3.03 256) by putting it on one 256 bank that worked and once the 3.03 came up I switched the dip switches to 1 then I did 2 then I did 3 etc all the way to 8 then both banks worked on Bank 1 1024 and Bank 2 worked 1024. I then flased the 1024 1959 bios and shazam up and going. Thanks to you and this site.

Thats cool.

For your info, once you have booted up on ANY bank to flashbios, you can select any other bank you like. So if your 1st 256K bank is the only one that works, boot up to it, then select the 1Mb bank (use the one that doesnt include your working flashbios bank.)

With the 1959 installed and a factory hard drive in xbox. I would like to put a Dashboard on the Xbox that will allow me to back up games to my hard drive (on my pc). Can you recommend one to use for that and where to go to find the directions on installing it?
Thanks

What you need is a dashboard of your choice, and then an application called DVD2Xbox to back-up your games.

Check out Xbins by doing a search.

3294

I put the 3294 on the xbox it is working. It came with some skins. I don't know how to put one on the box. I did notice where it gives you the option to download them on the main menu of 3294. My problem is I know where the tutorials are on xbox-scene but I don't know which one I should be following or which ones?
Thanks

I did the same thing as mentioned earlier, I flashed 3294 to 1024k bank 1, but then I used the password option in config live and it froze on reboot @ "X3 rocks my box", so I read that if you put an older bios it will let you enter your password so you can get to X3CL and disable password, then x3_3294 will boot fine again, so i found 3284 and I booted 1024k bank 2 (off,on,off, off) flashbios came up and I flashed it without changing the dip switches back to bank 1 (on,on,off, off), and I guess bios 3284 had the password bug because it freezes @ "rocks my box" so thats when I thought I totally [email protected]#ked up, until I just read this post and booted with the "power-eject backup bios" thing, now my X3 logos purple? Im in flashbios 3.0.1 and am able to flash my bios again, but my X3 logo is purple and I dont want to screw this backup. If I switch to on,on,off, off 1024k bank 1 and flash an older bios like 1892 or something does anyone know if Ill be flashing over my "power-eject" backup bios or my 3294 bios, because my light is still purple??? Thanks in advance :)

You will flash to which ever bios bank is selected on your switch panel. You will not wipe your back-up bios.

Obtain the dashboard of your choice. Check out their official website for tutorials. FTP it across to your X-Box. Set-up X3CL to boot to your dash.

Having Trouble

I am having trouble getting the pc to ftp to the xbox. Not really sure how to do it. I have the ftp loaded on computer when I open the ftp it asks for the following.
Profile name FTP Explorer Home
Host Address (Not sure what to put in there)
Port 21
login (I think thats x3)
password (I think thats x3)
initial Path /pub/ftpx
attempts 1
download path blank
description FTP Explorer FTP Server

Can you tell me how I should go about ftp the xbox or what should be above to allow me to?

I have looked all through the xbox-scene.com and I can't seem to find a good tutorial on how to set up a dashboard on the X3 with the latest bios 3294 if someone knows one could they please post it. I am a newbie and need a little help.

Thanks
Joe

First of all, get a copy of Flashfxp.

Then run it. Enter the IP address of your X-Box. Use "X3" as your login and password.

It's that easy.

Get a good dashboard from "the usual places". I use Avalaunch, but UnleashX and XBMC are also poplular. You may need to edit the *.ini file to suit your HDD set up.
Then you may need to edit your Dashboard preferences in X3CL

Still can't get in there. I am using 192.168.0.1 as my ip address and using FXP as you instructed and still having problems. I did the quick connect and entered 192.168.0.1 and x3 and x3 as username and password even tried X3 X3 in capitals to make sure it wasn't case sensitive. Do I need to do somethig in the menu of 3294 or 1959 build I have both of them installed one on bank 1 and the other on bank 2? Any ideas what is wrong?
Thanks

Your IP and your xbox IP should be different but under the same subnet.
eg. Your IP 192.168.0.1
XBox IP: 192.168.0.2
From your computer, ftp to the xbox while in X3CL.

ARe you connecting via a router or direct to your PC? Do you have a firewall in place?

Good Suggestions

I am running SP2 and the lates Norton Anti virus software. I was able to network to the xbox to load the bios (using winexplorer) would that mean that I should be able to network to it using FXP without a problem?
Thanks
