hello everone.

Edit:
xbox 1.4
germany pal
xecuter 3
no bios i think

after some bad soldering attempts my x3 was booting up good. finally a friend came over and soldered all the pins new. they are now fine. no cold solderings etc. ok i turned it on and the flashmenu came up. very nice.

i turned the box off. took a break (15min) then i came back. i just burned a evox boot cd 1.8xxx. bootet up the original xbox bios and did the boot cd into the drive. rebootet with the xecuter 3 chip. and i think this is where i did my mistake. the tv was black. and the eject button switched continuosly from red to green. and the X was red all the time. nothing happened. so it turned the box off and took the cd out. turned it on again but shortly after it did go off and on and off and on. 3rd time it stayed on and the same problem occured. no boot screen no flashmenu. nothing. but the eject button kept on flashing red/green.

if i boot the original ms bios/dash the xbox logo appears and after 20secs. the fan starts to spin like hell. the eject button glows orange and the box turns it self off. ! what can i do now. i know i maybe didnt followed the manuals quit right but.....do you know ash from s-mart ?

ok

so is there a way to reset the bios ?????????????

maybe with a boot cd ?????????

i just got the chip running
and as fast as it was ok i messed it up:oops: : (((((((((

a couple questions.
1. Did you ever attempt to flash the BIOS before putting in your evox cd?
2. Have you checked to make sure there is nothing shorting and checked your soldering again?

Also I would use Avalaunch instead of Evox. much more fearure rich than Evox.

I would double check the soldering again and check the eject/power board. One more question. What version of xbox do you have? If its a 1.6 you need to do the install different than if its a 1.0-1.5 (LPC and 5v)
Once it boots to the FLASHBIOS screen again thats when you would flash your BIOS (also matters what version xbox you have will determine the BIOS you use)

ok. i tried to boot the backup but nothing happens maybe because the chip is a virgin. i.e. nothing on it. out of the mail into the box...

BUT
i checkt the solders with a multimeter again and i found out pin 3 shows 0.0v
thats the problem.

i could imagine the solder has been damaged after i screwed all the screws back in the board after i have checked it.

i think 99% of those problems like mine can be solved with quadro-checking all the solders. preferably with a multimeter and not with a magnifier : )

thanks. ill call my buddy tomorrow again to solder this thingy.

ill let you hear what heappend

Mate, the same exact thing is happening to me! Installed, booted, bios flash screen, flashed over the lan, rebooted and NADA. I redid the soldering 3 times but still nohthing.. I have just given the Xbox to my friend so he can try. I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best I guess..

hey go and buy a multimeter (ca. 10€/$) helps you A LOT. the solder looked perfect. really perfect. concav and absolutely clean but the multimeter showed me 0.01V on that pin !
but anyway good luck !

 Question... What are you doing with the Multi Meter?

If you are using it to check your solder connections, it should read 0 ohms.

The only way you will get anything in the form of Volts, is with the unit on, and I don't recommend that.

The reason you are reading 0.0 v is because your unit is off.

i have my multi at volt dc 20. xbox on with dvd/hdd power cable connected. grounded one peek and with the other i test the pins from the top of the mainboard. it reads pin 1=0, 2=0.2 3=0.0 (which should be 3.3V) and so on

pin 3 used to have 3.3v but the solder broke for some strange reason and i cant fix it by myself. dont know. need to contact my friend to do so.

ok ok i was 120% sure all pins were soldered 1000% correct cause i checked them with a multi meter which showed all were good. but it didnt work. so i i.e. my friend desoldered, cleaned with a q-tip and ethyl acetat all pins and resoldered it. and what can i say it works now.

very cool. avalaunch + xbmc ! THIS IS AWESOME !

thanks guys !
