Well there is Western Union. And then there is Skrill (aka) MoneyBrokers. -- I have good success with both. -- There was also Xoom but I heard recently it got taken over. -- Then of course there is the famous bitcoin and all their messy exchanges, never had good luck with that. -- I suggest Skrill, all tho after signing up you most go into options, and opt-out of marketing emails, or else you end up daily email spam from casino websites, as Skrill is partner that most casino sites use, since you can't with paypal.

I tried got burnt with paypal reverse payments ,saying they never authorized payments etc, i remember selling on ebay ,it is terrible ,i wouldnt advise anyone to sale anything on there , u will get ripped off and paypal suspends your acct and hold your money for 180 days ,wow never again lmao
Yeah paypal is bad, they normally never rule in your favor, always in the buyer's favor. -- I even had payments reversed, and i sent in proof of tracking of shipment, proof of signed receipt by person, etc.

I have not touched ebay for years, and even then only to buy something, i still use paypal but only with a few handful of people i trust and know for decades personally, and even then still one tried to flip a payment back after 44 days, they have up to 45 days to file a complaint it is so stupid.

PayPal is terrible. Get one jealous douche bag in the scene report you and they ban your SSN for life. PayPal actually linked directly to my TX ad saying I was in violation of their TOS and seized nearly $2500 over a few accounts. Then one account that was not even in my name (nor mine) but because I had logged into was also marked as "mine" and limited. I literally laugh my ass off when I see a modder advertise services and they have a direct to PayPal link or even worse their PayPal e-mail is "[email protected]".

Avoid PayPal at all costs unless you understand the risks in using it with this type of business. Avoid entering SSN and stay under the $20K limit ($19,999 or below). Credit Card Processors will be the same as PayPal, with crazy TOS. Best to avoid them all together IMO. I know for fact many mod sites actually have to open up "ghost" sites just to use their credit card processor on their real site(s) as Mastercard is very anti-piracy ANYTHING. Look at MCC, his card processor in is North Korea or something like that, that is HOW BAD it is and I can only imagine it's getting worse.

Honestly, Amazon gift card is really the best method IMO. Since you can buy anything on Amazon, except pay living expenses, it's the second alternative to cash/money order shipped with the XBOX. Another option which is more common place these days is a bank-to-bank transfers, like ChasePay, etc. Two more options are Venmo phone APP, it's for sending friends money but if you are trusted in the scene this is something to consider and then pre-paid credit cards. You can get pre-paid card info from customers, add said card to PayPal, then send yourself the money.

Amazon cannot be charged backed, there are no fee's, it's tax free, and if you have buyers send the gift cards to themselves, then they send you the code, there is no way for Amazon to "block" your account for "fraudulent" activities.

I really love the fact I no longer have to deal with payment processing anymore, as dealing with it in this scene was truly a nightmare.

i def agree with that. never use paypal, ofc i knew that going in but never had an issue until recently. they let the douche open the console and tear it up in the process, and i even sent in email proof of this and still rule in buyers favor. they NEVER side with the seller,so thier seller protection is total bullshit!

Mods or admin can u move thread to in general where everyone can view and post comments , i didnt mean vip section lol thanks
There is not really a good 'general' area for a topic like this, but I moved it for now to a place that everyone can comment on.

Hmm, maybe that is something I should add, like a 'general' or 'off-topic' forum where everyone can chit-chat about anything. :)

That is another big issue with PayPal, is seller protection. You don't have any, so you are exposed to scammers and idiots. You cannot expect PayPal to side with the seller (even if the seller did no wrong) when the seller is violating PayPal TOS by selling this type of stuff, so PayPal will almost always side with the buyer regardless of the situation. This was not the case when this type of stuff (RGH/JTAG) was new, but these days PayPal and the people they have to manage cases know what a RGH/JTAG is.

I know of a case where a modder sold a pre-mod console and the buyer opened the console, trashing it. The buyer tried to return it to the modder saying "it broke". The modder refused and then the buyer opened a PayPal case. Not only did the buyer win (and got to keep the trashed XBOX!) but the modders PayPal account was permanently limited for violation of the TOS. So basically using PayPal for this type of business really exposes you to a lot of nonsense, it's just not worth it.

If you do use PayPal and someone wants to return an item, best to just eat it and get your item back. If they file a charge back that's a whole other thing and in most cases PayPal will fight for you, but still exposes you to limitation based on violation of TOS.

Again, the best digital payment method is Amazon. After that check/money order/cash. Another option is Western Union, but this is expensive. If you are trusted in the scene most buyers will not have a problem sending a check/money order, especially if you offer a discount (which you should, at least the 3% fees you save by not using PayPal).

Something else to remember is use your common sense. If you have a buyer who seems like a total door knob or is "fishy" aka scammer, just don't do business with them. I have refused to do business with many people in the past simply because I knew they would be trouble. Or if you have a buyer like this but really want/need the sale, insist on a payment method that protects you.

Oh and if you do use PayPal. NEVER EVER let the buyer send you the money, even if they offer to gift. Send them an invoice and invoice it as a used XBOX 360. NEVER put RGH/JTAG, etc. I have lost sales over this as customers thought I was "trying to scam them", but people just don't understand it was for a specific reason. I am pretty sure PayPal has automatic text detection and certain text will flag your account.

I got rekt by PayPal back in the day. Learned the hard way before I knew what they could do. Suddenly my Christmas present became 2 seized accounts with pretty sizable amounts of money in them :)

Gonna agree with Alex on the Amazon card idea. Tried that a few times and it's nice, easy, and stress-free.

Gonna miss Google Wallet

I still use PayPal but my main source of work is from Facebook so I creep on my customers and pick and choose those I want to work for.
I also mislabel my transactions and transfer the fund out immidiently after they hit my account.

I'm reputable enough though that most of my customers will send payment as a gift to friends and family or with send cash or money orders with their box.

I don't deal with kids though. That's the beauty of Facebook.

Agreed, basic common sense....

1. Use PayPal with caution.
2. Do not put RGH/JTAG in any of the info.
3. Gift payments are OK but only for services. If you do this for a console sale you risk a scam. Gift payments are easily charged back.
4. Dump money into bank immediately.
5. If doing gift payments, do a donation link instead. Although I think PayPal/IRS/TAX stuff has changed with donations, I think you are safe up to $10k?
6. Multiple accounts.
7. Never enter SSN unless you are OK with being PayPal banned for life.

I got Paypal banned.

They also decided to ban all my immediate family from eBay/Paypal.

It took months for my relatives to convince them they weren't violating the TOS. All because one jerk says "for xbox mods" in his payment description.

f**k 'em.

Haven't used paypal for xbox modding or selling rgh/jtags but when I used to sell on ebay and off my website. Paypal was an absolute bitch they hold your money for 21 until you become trusted, also when you transfer it to your bank it takes forever (Canada)

Paypal is almost always leaning towards the buyer never the seller

I use the Paypal prepaid card. I take a small hit on the Paypal fees and another small hit on the PayPal prepaid card fees but I can do $300 per day instant transfer to my PayPal prepaid card. Then I take another small hit from the atm when I draw the cash off the card to put in my bank account. All the little hits add up in time but well worth it for me as I don't have to worry about the funds getting locked down. That and I figure all those fees into my prices anyway.

Hasn't been a problem for me but we will see where I stand when the Xbox one hack drops and I start doing much more frequent work. I imagine I'll get bit then.

Paypal has gotten I found alot faster in bank transfers once they got sold off from ebay and became their own company, and even the exchange rate is bit better now also, and limits have been reduced now you can even widthdrawal $5 dollars from your paypal to bank account even to canada without large fees, before anything under $150 got hit hard, and transfer time is now less then 32 hours, as long as you do a transfer before midnight eastern time, it appears in your canadian bank by 5pm EST the next day, except of course for weekends and bank holidays, then you got to wait until early tuesday morning before it appears, if you lucky a sunday withdrawal will appear on monday if no holidays in either country.

Other then that it still sucks ass, the list of goods you can legally sell or trade in without getting chargesbacks or limited account or frozen is so small now, and its just not xbox modding, you can even trade in parts to retro-fit your car, which makes it a pain in the ass in trying to fix up old cars now that you can't get parts anymore, they hit hard alot of services, not just modding of consoles, even book sellers that have restored old prints and such are against their TOS list.

I'll be honest, PayPal is great, I mean the ****s banned me too, for an email address that wasn't even in my account...

However, if you understand every way someone can scam you, and play safe against that, it's great.

Naturally I had to be scammed 3 times to work it out......

They are however abunch of cock sucking f**ktards, but even now I can't live without a paypal, it's just so convenient.
