Missing Wire - Will a workaround affect it?

Hey guys, first of all a big thanks to team Xecuter from a fan. Been installing modchips forever, but its the first time I've registered on the forum. Seems like a great atmosphere, and looking forward to contributing.

Just received an Xecuter 2.6CE modchip to fit in a 1.1 Xbox. Only snag is that the wire header which connects to the D0, Lan and HDD activity is missing. I've contacted my supplier, but I'm wondering if it might be worth just soldering the D0 bypas as per a cheapmod (Using Alt D0 on back of Xbox mobo). The reason im in a rush is that I promised a friend I would have the chip soldered for the weekend, and I'm thinking that he wont use any of the chip enable.disable features.

Does anyone reackon there may be other problems that I may be missing, or will the Alt D0 without the approriate header work? I'll just ground the D0 onto a screw fixture probably, but I'm not sure if the Xecuter will work without the header fitted.

If this makes sense, then thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers

Why not solder a wire from the chip to the motherboard? Apart from the HDD/LAN lights, he'll have a fully working chip. You should be able to see enough of the solder pad on the d0/lan/hdd socket on the chip to solder to it.

Hi Martin

You arent too far from me mate - I'm up in Inverness!

Thats exactly what I'm going to do, but the only sticking point really is that I'm not sure what each pin on the 3 pin white header corresponds to. I'm going to try and solder all three using kynar wire, but I got a response from Glen at cheapmod who will post me out a new loom of X2.6 wires if I have no luck.

Any chance you know what each pin should be soldered to mate?

Thanks again

Andrew

Cheers again mate

Installed the 2.6 using kynar wire, and just soldered the 3 lines to the pins on the reverse of the socket - Boots fine, programmed fine and my mate now has his xbox back.

Much appreciated
