Hello:

There are two options I am considering for modding my Xbox 360, and I would like you input / pricing for each. My Xbox 360 is an Arcade System with the Lite On f/w 9XXX

Option #1 - Perferred

Install the cygnos v2 mod chip -

Not sure if this can be done or not, as I am haven't even checked to see which kernel I have installed on the 360. I haven't performed any updates, and the manufacture date was Sept 09. But if it is do-able, I would like to have this chip installed to dual boot kernels.

Dump Motherboard Key

Option #2 - If the above can't be done

I have the Lite On 9XXX DVD Drive. The hacking of this is complicated, and of course, there are more firmware updates in the future that will need to be installed. I am not sure of the best way to go with this, if it would be to upgrade the drive, and have you install the Xecuture Mod so I can easily update in the future?

I am also considering going with the xDrive Mod. That way it will be easier to upgrade the drive in the future. One question I have though, will you be able to hook the xDrive mod up directly to a computer?

Like I said, I would really perfer option one if it can be done. Please reply with your opinion and your pricing.

Thanks

Zach

sept 09 is too late it was about june when the new bootloader was implimented from manufacture, you'll have to check the dash version to be 100% sure. (check here)

The Xdrive is only a switchable external dvd caddy (of sorts) and the drive will still need flashing/modding in the conventional way. It will be easier to flash the drive in the future because you don't need to take apart the console.

First, thank you for your reply.

There seems to be a lot of confusion / speculation / misinformation out there about the xDrive. Is it possible to buy the xDrive and put say a Benq drive in it? I know that you'd still need to flash the Benq, which is fine. I also know you'd still have to open the 360 which I am ok with as well.

I guess my question really is, can I leave the stock lite on in the 360 and use an flashed benq drive with the xdrive? That way I would still be able to play back up games through the benq drive.

Also, if this is possible, how does the benq work with out extracting the key from the 360 (since the lite on 9xxx) is not hacker friendly :). Or does it not work like that?

Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Alright, I understand now :). So basically I am hosed even with the xdrive, since I would still need a way to extract the key for the lite on. And since it's the newest version of the lite on, there's no simple way to extract the key

thanks for clairifying this :)

Yeah your going to have to bite the bullet dumping the drive :( but once you have the info from it, the advantage of the xDrive is it simply plugs into your ck3 to be flashed or for any updates, you'll never need to open your 360 again and you could switch back to the factory drive when needed..
