Modding my new XBOX360 Questions

I know the benefits of flashing my drive. But before I venture into flashing, I would like to know a few things from the experts here :D

- Is firmware hacking a "temporary" fix? What I mean is, could this type of hack be countered in the future with newer games? I know that the hacked firmware can be updated, but constantly updating the firmware is not a "easy" task.

- Not sure if the a modchip will ever see the light of day because of the firmware hack, but is it worth waiting for?

- XBOX Live is not yet affected anyone, but can MS tell if the firmware hacked? I presume they could but haven't done anything about it yet. I also presume the could permanently cripple hacked boxes as well?

- Is having a Toshiba/Samsung vs. Hitachi (Early version) better based on the hacked firmware out now, or is the functionality the same?

- Any games out there that can't be played yet with the firmware out now?

Sorry for so many questions, but I want to be sure before I go forward. I have everything ready but have cold feet. Please CONVINCE me :D :D

TIA

We are not here to convince you....we are here to help you if you go ahead....

There are always risks in soft-mods or any mod really and life is full of "what ifs"

it's down to you as most of your Q's we can't really answer as my crystal ball is faulty and my hairy ones are sore so my function to see into the future is not good.........

As far as postulating what the future may hold for XBL and modchips etc, yes PrimitiveX5 is spot on

There are no current games that I am aware of that can not be backed up

I would suggest getting a Samsung if you can, not so much for a better firmware, but IMHO it is a more robust unit to flash - not so prone to getting bricked to a point where you need to desolder the chip to fix.

Thanks for the reply. I do have access to a Samsung drive that I can replace my Hitachi with. However, I have to spoof the drive to work in my box. I understand what spoofing is, but I am wondering if I would be opening myself up for other potential issues by spoofing. I.E. what are the downsides of spoofing?

None whatsoever yet. Spoofing seems to work just fine for the time being.....

If you are worried about it, then you should stick with the EXACT same model as your original Hitachi.
