Hello guys, I bought my xbox 3 days ago and decided to mod it this morning. Started doing some research and ended up here on xecuter website. I didin have the the slightest info regarding modding an xbox( what it does, how to do it, where to buy, which chip to buy, hardisk mod??) and after couple hours on the net, I ended up with some ideas, and I wanted to share them with you guys to see if I get this thing right.

Well first off all I decided to go with the X3 mod chip. I havent looked yet but since its so new I belive I have a 1.6 version xbox. ( not sure if its a or b). I dont wanna use soldering however the solderless kit is only good up to xbox vs1.5 right? So I have to solder....

After I install the x3 chip, I can use my xbox in x3 modded and non-modded version( for xboxlive), by using the on-off switches on my xbox right?

After I install the x3 chip, do I have to flash it, or programm it or I can just start playing?

I will eventually put a 250gig HD on the modded system, is plug and play all I need to do, or some software or flashing required?

Thanks.
Andy.

All this questions have been asked many times, try using the search button. Some ppl will flame you just for asking the same questions that has been answered hundreds of times. Welcome to xbox modding. You are heading in the right direction chooseing the x3. Try xbox-scene.com also much helpful info there.

Isnt it easier to write an answer instead of writing a whole pharagraph to explain while I should use the search button? Or should I use the search button on why I should use the search button too?

hmm

May i suggest that if you really dont want to solder, get the Xapt3r ( I think its 1.6 Compatible) But if not get the spiderchip

why not add to the flaming? :p

-solderless is gay.

-the X3 can be disabled in order to play XBOX Live

-the X3 comes with a FlashBIOS which you will use to flash your X3 with the latest X3 bios (find through xbins.org)

-changing the hard drive could get you banned from XBOX Live (marriage theory)

I just dont like the idea of soldering but I guess I got to do what I got to do.

Can they detect that you have a different HardDrive in your xbox, thru Xbox live ? Hmmm.

Anyway so I guess I go buy the X3 chip first, solder it somehow, get it up and running and install the harddrive.

Yeah, don't get on live until you have your xbox completely set up how you want. If the hdd is changed after you have already signed up for live with that xbox, you will be banned. Make sure the hard drive you decide on supports locking. It must be locked to boot to the original dashboard, i.e. chip disabled. The soldering really isn't that hard. Just read the install guides and you should feel confident enough to take on the job. Just make sure you use all the correct tools. Don't settle for anything, like if you have a 45 watt iron and you need a 15, don't use the 45.
