Greets to all.

Just wondering whether it is possible?

In the old PC days it was just a case of opening your your file in your favourite hex editor find the hex vaues of what you want to change and save and inport back to the game.

I have an xecuter connectivity kit so I thought I would try and extract my Forza 2 gamesave using Explorer 360.

Everything went fine. Was able to locate the file and back it to pc.

Then I opened it in Winhex and started searching for some strings. eg money

Found the the offset location and matching values on hex and changed them to something more suitable (more $$$$).

Save the file and then copy back to 360 Hdd.

When I load forza 2 save the change has not taken.

Is there something I am missing.

Do these gamesaves utilise checksums or multi location registers to store the info?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my nephew is bugging the pants off me over this!

peace

shouldnt it be more then just one file? Seen some games have the save file and another linked to the profile. Which one did you Hexedit?

Also be warned that editing the files is the fastest way to get banned from Live. Thats the 1 reason this banning started since people changed the stats on games like Burnout 2 for instance where they kept the cars at a constant Speed even with rubbing on walls and applying brakes. Just thought you should know. Might be better to use a cheat code if possible. So I wouldnt use this with a active live account

I hex edited the "profile.sav" file in the appropriate folder. I did notice there was another sub folder, perhaps this has the info I am looking for.

I am not concerned with the ramifications of live as it will not be used on there. It is for my nephew who has some mild impairments. Lets just say the live community was not very nice for him.

Anyway, I'll keep plugging away.
