Hi all,

I just got the X3 along with the xbox 4 days ago and everything is running good until I hook up the monster component cables. I did a search and had some questions answered.. but I'm still at a loss as to if there is a work around or what version bios it will work on.. or if that version is out yet..

thanks for any help you can offer....

I have a non-hdtv but its a new jvc with component(nice tv). Any hoot the system workes fine with the composite cables, but once I put in the monster component I just the the blue screen as if there is no signal. If I start the xbox with the power button instead of the big one I will see the opening sequence of the xbox till I get the error because of the chip. (which is normal). Before I posted I read from other people that they too were having issues with s-video or component with x3. I messed witht eh setting s and saw a resolution setting.. but it was at ntsc 4:3 and I could not change it. I really want to get the xbox up with the component cables.. I just dont know how =-/

Are you sure you have the tv tuned to the right input for the component inputs?

What Bios are you running because I know that they had issues with video settings on older Bios's. I had this probelm with my HDTV it actually went fuzzy and in a up, down motion. I had to hook my box up to a different TV to reset the settings on the XBOX to actually view it again on my HDTV. 1959 Bios or 1957 had the fix for this and now its no problem...

I switch the inputs to the componet and I would just see a split second of the menu for the mod and go to blue as if no signal. As for the bios.. This is bad.. but.. I dont know where to find the bios at =-/.. I just has the x3 installed in my new xbox a week ago. I had someone do it for me so I'm still not sure where to find it. the start up screen comes up to fast so I hope its not on there. When I start it I think it boots up the that avalunch menu(blueish white) with my program, settings, al the pic, vid files.. etc. I know this sounds all sad.. =-/. I'm just trying to learn all this. :(

Do you have the dip settings on the front so that you could switch to a back up Bios, maybe the person whoever installed it for you put some other backups on the different banks? The different Bios will have different video settings if there's another one backed up!!! Otherwise your going to have to go about it blindly through the menu, because I'm sure that your menu and everything is still running even though it's not visible...

yes.. they have the dip witches in the front. I will call the guy and see if he loaded another bios on it. But how do you know what version do you have? haha(feeling dumd). So 1957 or 1959 will fix the video issue? When I nav though the menu they do have a res setting.. but its not changable. Do I have to look or do anything with the evo dashboard? is that even needed?

ummm.. so lost...

A tip to find out what Bios is actually installed on the box, go into the X3 Bios and look at Bios Tools (I think its the second option on the menu). Anyway you can rename the Bios from this menu, this should be the fourth option on the sub menu. Well don't rename them or anything but you can look at what there named to see what was actually flashed on each bank, then just back out of the menu. Evox has a variable in the code to display what type of Bios you have also on the dash I believe. I'm running Avaluanch so its been a while since I've seen the Evox dash interface (standered issuse anyway, there pretty much all the same in what variables they use in the *.INI files that import the JPEG as the background). No you shouldn't have to mess with the Evox dash...

great.. I will take another look. I didnt really see anything that said bios only settings and in there just basic info. I can look at the files on the hd. you were talking about .inf files.. would I find something there? anyway.. I will try to tell you what I have tomorrow when I get a hold of that guy. Thanks agian for your help. Once I can play xbox with the monster cables I will be set

When you do transactions on Craigslist, you can be lied to, and screwed. Maybe the red rings weren't the only problem with the 360. I got screwed out of $200, and I'm still talking to the police today about it.
