my friend has access to a machine that can add the components to a board for you (after programming the locations of course) and we are planning to put more ram on our xboxes.

does anyone know if there is a certain type of ram chip we have to buy or if there is a guide to this? Perhaps someone has tried this before.

also will changing the ram mess up the x3 chip (kind of like how the new ram in the 1.6b makes you have to flash on flashbios 3.03)

run a few searches on the forums over at www.xbox-scene.com and you should find what your looking for and maybe get some ram chips off someone in the buy, sell, and trade section over there. You can buy a broken xbox off ebay for $20-40 and desolder those ram chips and use those on your xbox. To make use of the extra ram you will have to use the app RAMdelimit to patch .xbe's to alow use for the extra ram. But you will only find the ram useful in Linux, MAYBE in a MAME emu. You will not notoice a different in the games though because they were designed with the stock xbox hardware in mind.
