MS28 -> Bad-flash method

Too easy with the right hardware (VT6421A or VT6421L SATA PCI card). The tutorial will walk you through it.

motherboard and/or dvd circuit board type & resin situation is irrelevant UNLESS you modchip it.... which I strongly suggest you don't do.

If you f**k up the modchip procss without having first extracted the firmware (half of the flashing process anyway) then there may be no way to replace your drive and you now have a $600 paperweight

If you purchase a VIA PCI SATA card (VIA 6421L or VIA 6421A as vinomarky mentioned) then you do not need to remove any epoxy or do any desoldering/soldering at all. Under most conditions, when you have an MS28 you can either purchase the VIA card (recommended) or do the VCC method by removing resistor 408 (not recommended).

In your case, the VCC method is REALLY not recommended because there is epoxy covering it.

Just buy the card online, you'll save yourself some trouble and that card is very useful - it works on all Xbox 360 drives.

on my pc motherboard i've got 2 sata ports, and in my device manager it via sata raid controller , and i updated the drivers for it last night from the asus site and the file was marked viaraid 6421, so i'm hoping i've got the right one, am so glad i've not got to hack through that resin.

have done quite a few ps2's using magic chips so i aint afraid of soldering , glad i can update the firmware
