RGH Motherboard bricked?

Hi all,

I finished my first jtag last night and I fear that I've bricked my motherboard. Everything as far as the soldering is concerned went very well. I have an arcade motherboard that I was unable to use because I lost the dvd key on the dvd-rom a year ago and was hoping to recover it with this.

I dumped the nand for a 16 mb Jasper, using the nand-x and jtag tool, and compared the nands and got 0 non matching blocks, without even considering the fact there were more than one version of the jasper board I went ahead and created the EEC and wrote it back to the board... I'm afraid I might have a big block board and wrote a 16 mb image to it... I've tried writing the original (the one(s) I created to begin with) nand back but I think the damage is already done. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks,
syntax

It doesn't display anything on the screen and the green light (on the ROL PCB) just flashes.

seanr28,

This is great news, thanks! I will give it a shot when I get home and see if I can get it to display anything.

You were right! I just had to flash to xell and it worked! Thanks so much for the good advice. One thing I'd like to note to other people that might run into this: I had to de-solder my coolrunner before flashing.

So I got the box to boot to xell just fine. Got all the needed information, dumped my flash and everything. I tried flashing freeboot using jtag tool with no success. I tired rebuilding the nand in multibuilder and then again in nandhealer, no luck. On boot the cool runner flashes green (as expected) but the light on the RF PCB just flashes green and nothing is ever displayed on the screen, also, I hear the cpu/gpu fans cycle up over time. I've tired resoldering the coolrunner but my points are good and the wires are routed away from each other. I'm kind of at a loss now. Anyone have any ideas? I've searched the forums and seen several others with similar problems but in my case I can't get the box to boot even with the original nand but I still have hope since I can get it to boot to Xell.

Edit: I noticed several notes from seanr on another post about adding the capacitor to ground and 'a' for big block japser boards so I tired that but I think I may have screwed up the coolrunner, now on boot the cool runner never flashes green. I'll try re-flashing the coolrunner when I get home.

it sounds like you have either poor soldering, or you have over written the ecc file that you flashed using the +w command. How did you write your freeboot image?

Also you will need to make sure that you have used the correct LDV value, this can be confirmed by counting the number of Fs displayed in xell accros the cpu key on the relevant line 3 and 5 or 4 and 6

I will check my solder points again when I get home. I think the LDV value may be the issue. I wrote my freeboot image initially in multibuilder and and it set the LDV to 1. When the first image didn't work I wrote another using the original nand in jtagtool and then again in nandhealer but none of the images got the xbox to boot.

Funny enough I only count 1 F in the entire key which I think is kinda strange. I agree, I will start from the original nand, again, re-flash the ECC (just in case) and then recreate my freeboot image and try to flash that.

Ohhhhh, yeah I saw that and was wondering... that has more than one for sure. Thanks for letting me know. I will get that all corrected when I get home and see if I can get it working. I will report back with the results. Thank you again for all your help, seanr28!

Edit: yep, mine was set to 1 but should be 5

seanr28, you were right! The LDV was the problem. I remade my flashdump.bin with multibuilder and changed cfldv from 0 to 5 in the opions.ini then reflashed the xbox and it worked! You are the man! I owe you a beer or two.
