SAMSUNG MS28 ms-28 replacement and lt+

I am fairly new to these forums but figured I would post my results with flashing to try and help others out.

First, I have a 360 that originally came with a sammy ms28. That laser went bad and I had a spare benq laying around. I flashed the benq with lt+1.1 and spoofed as ms28. Worked like a charm. Ran into an issue though when Gears 3 Released. I placed the original in the drive and I got the open tray issue.

I then figured ok I need to run lt+1.91. Only problem is you can't spoof a benq with 1.9+ as a samsung. I then flashed with 1.91 and not spoofing as ms28. Connecting to XBL and playing online no problems.

I don't know if your box came with a sammy originally if you can swap drives like that but I may have been flagged. I would not recommend this if it is your only box.

I will keep the post updated as time progresses on if it still works on live.

I posted this somewhere else this week in a thread about why some sammys wont play ap2.5. My reckoning is because some older systems mainly sammy ones came with a blank osig. I realised this a long time ago checking nands for jtags. I reckon that the ones with blank osigs in the nands can have whatever drive without spoofing and also that this is why a sammy system is asking for ap2.5 data even though sammys cant provide it because if the osig is blank it doesnt know what drive is supposed to be in there. Ive replaced a few sammys that wouldnt load ap.2.5 games with benqs with no spoofing and have never had any problems even on live

You are flagged for sure. If any kind of spoofed drive is in your xbox online it will be flagged.

yeah but only if its spoofed. you can put any drive in an xbox with blank osig so he wouldnt be fagged for having his benq in now as a benq running lt 1.91.

he most likely will however have been flagged for his time running it spoofed as a sammy, then again if the osig in the nand is blank anyway, maybe not

Have they been banning spoofed drives since early 2010? I think that is when I originally spoofed the benq into it.

I just think it is crazily intriguing how different each box is and what happens when we all try to mess with them.

Not quite sure what the osig is but did have a feeling that the boxes that had sammys were a little more versitile since they were not capable of ap2.5.
