hi all
hope someone could help me. i bought a 360 of ebay opened up noticed it has a samsung drive,happy days i thought? so googled and got the relevant tools ie sata via 6421a and downloaded all files from xbins, then i started reading and reading. opened up 360 and seen ms 28 my heart sank at this. watched textbook vid the guy is amazing and felt comfortable to start. made usb with extreme boot but when looking for firmware picked extreme 52a then extreme says not sure of firmware proceed with caution ,finished usb boot turned of and booted from usb.got the bios turned on 360 with sata connected to via then samread no via drive seems to show updated the drivers . all i get is 1 ide master which i think is usb hit one turn off 360 count to ten nothing. asked my friend who networks pcs for schools even he cant figure it out. when i look in properties when in windows it picks up the via card so dont know whats going on.
any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you also check the two boxes in xtreme boot maker (bad flash compatibility and bokes patch)?

thanks for the reply. yes checked them both with bootmaker bad and boke been at it all morning now some way to spend day off.i put it in to two pcs now both pick up card in windows but cant seem to find it in dos updated drivers for card it just wont pick up the 360 drive. i was thinking maybe sata card is faulty then why does it pick up in win. i thouht the old xbox was hard nothing to this. any ideas castor .

ps pc is asus k8v se deluxe, via vt8237 ,two 160 gig striping .amd 64 3400. with via sata 6421 a card

Do you have another onboard SATA controller enabled in the BIOS? If so that not going to help the situation, try that out. Also it's not really a solution but try and boot using a floppy for samread.

Use the primary sata port. If you have both internal and external sata ports on the card, only use the internal ones. If you have more than one internal port, try using the port closest to the front of your PC.

If that fails, try -pk-'s suggestions.

for all the help very much appreciated.i found the answer here it was a post by 2urr for some reason it worked for me. i turned 360 on then pc let bios load then samread 1111111 11111 and instead of via it picked up pri master, turned off 360 hit number two pri master and counted to ten was bricking myself here cos i actually thought this might work. turned on 360 and it started flashing, happy days then got keycheck and checked if orig bin was matching hack. then samhack 1111111 11111 and it started flashing, turned off 360 then pc . would just like to thanks very much to all at this site i was at this for four days and three of them were my days off.360 seems to be working great and was flashed with extreme 52 a. just looking now for cheap dl dvds.
