You can either run the MS dash while you're booted with your modchip on...or hold the power button for a second or two when you're booting and it will boot with the modchip disabled

Or you can another dashboard or application that allows you to mess with gamesaves. UnleashX does

new to 360

i owned one before, wanted to mod it, but never could get what i needed to do so.(i only have a laptop).
i just got a modded 360 in a trade. it's banned, which is fine by me as i don't like paying to play online anyway.
my basic question is.
where do i find out what dash, and kernal, and all of that stuff that i need to know?
how do i find out HOW the guy modded it?
i've been reading begginners sections and faq for hours, and i can't find anything dumbed down far enough for me.
i do know how to mod PSPs and Wiis, so i'm not a complete moron, i just don't know enough about the 360 itself.
so if you can bear with me, share your knowledge, or post me a link to something that'd help me, it would be appreciated.
thank you

Re: new to 360

As for how the guy modded it, he probably flashed the firmware on the DVD drive, it's probably flashed with a version of iXtreme. Also, to check your dashboard version you go to.. System settings, Console Settings, System Info. It'll tell you your Dash version right there.

Hope this was helpful, even a little bit. lol

Re: new to 360

is there a way on the 360 to check what firmware he flashed? i mean, there's another firmware other than the iXtreme, right?
i'm sorry to sound like a newb. its just that the psp and the wii are so much easier. lol
is there a way to get the 360 to load games from usb? or off of its hard drive itself? that way i don't have to waist more money on DL disks?

Re: new to 360

No, the only way to check what firmware is on the 360 is to take out the dvd drive and hook it up to your pc, then dump it and read what fw is on it. lol

Also, it is possible to jtag your 360 so you can do whatever you want with it, namely installing disks onto the harddrive and then playing the games without the discs.. But it may be impossible to jtag your xbox (mine is impossible, the 360 is too up to date) It's an annoying process.

Also! I've modded wii's and psp's too, and I have to say!! The 360 is by far the easiest console to mod, followed by the wii, and then finally the psp is the hardest in my opinion! lol

Re: new to 360

lol, really? the psp was easy. i happened to have the first gen battery too, so opening it and unsoldering the pin and putting it back together was simple. then the mms was already online.
the Wii was a little more difficult, figureing out the ios and all that
