Ok, I've spent the last 4 days searching this forum and website for a resolution to my problem. I have found others with this issue but their solutions did not help me.

First though, here's what I'm using: ms25, lexar firefly 2gb usb, this SATA chipset.

I've followed Textbook's tut for the entire process. I have my BIOS setup to boot from the usb and I have disconnected all other drives.

Once in DOS, I've had some trouble getting mtkflash to recognize my drive, but after some playing with it, I can usually get it to recognize the Xtreme Pri Master. This is where I've hit a dead end. No matter what I have tried, it only stops at listing this, "port:XX, Master/Slave: XX" and doesn't begin to dump.

I found a thread on this issue here, but the suggestions in the thread did not help me after numerous attempts.

Like I said, I have been following Textbook's tutorial very closely. The only thing that I can think of that I did slightly different from his tut was when I used iPrep to setup the USB, his MD5 number was different than mine. I'm not sure if these are unique or if it should have been the same, but like I said, I have been using the USB successfully so I doubt this has anything to do with it.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi.
When you get iprep to recognise xtreme pri master, then turn off your 360.When you press the key to select pri master then start counting for the 10 second trick(this 10 second trick may vary i.e may be 4,6,8,10 or 12 seconds you'll have to find what works best for you)
when you have counted the XX seconds then turn on your xbox and iprep should then begin the boot. When iprep has dumped your fw remember to boot into windows to back up your fw.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
I flashed my ms25 last week.
I didn't use the 10 sec trick that's for the ms28.
I prepaired my USB with iprep my MD5 number was also different. After this changed my setup to boot from usb.
When i booted from USB i got exactly the same (DOS)screen as in textbook.Just did exactly what follows in textbook and worked fine.
Make sure you connect sata-cable to 360-drive after you booted into DOS.
Maybe it's your VIA-card(i used this:VIA VT 6421L PCI SATA Card) or didn't you connect and disconnect your sata-cable from the 360 drive at the correct time.
I hope this helps you a little or i can help you further in future.
