I had 2 xbox 360s, one was the hitachi LG drive & the other is a samsung.
The hitachi flashed fine with my onboard sata controller, however the guide stated that it was not compatible with the samsung drive, so I ended up ordering one online. I just received the card today, and unfortunately no instructions or anything with it except the driver cd which I installed.
the card looks like this btw

http://cgi.ebay.com/3-Ports-ATA-IDE-SATA-Host-RAID-PCI-Controller-Card-Z_W0QQitemZ130076794165QQihZ003QQcategoryZ75556QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I just inserted the card into the PCI slot, not sure if I had to connect anything to the ide part or the other two sata ports.
Anyways I created the bootdisk via usbflash disk, and followed the direction in the guide. When I type in samread (and the serial #)
it detects my two dvd drives iit seems, but nothing else. I hit esc and retried a few times but same thing.

I then disconnected everything except the xbox and tried again, but this time it said no drives detected...

Any ideas why it isnt picking up the pci sata card? any suggestions on what I should try now ?

First update the VIA SATA cards drivers to 5.40a here : http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1180&SubCatID=117

make sure that installs correctly but skip/don't install the raid function

then boot to dos with your usb device you have made, once you get to the dos prompt with the power to the 360 still off plug the SATA cable into the rear internal SATA connection (not the one at the back of the case) then power the 360 on and that should do it now type samread.

Hi,

Also make sure you have your cable attached to the port which is to the right of the VIA chip. (From you picture above). Have your cable attached when creating your bootable usb key.

Now when you type samread you should get XTREME Pri Master as an option.

Hope this works for you.
Thanks

You should deselect RAID when installing and you should use the primary SATA port as mentioned above ^^.
