've searched around regarding the proceedure to flash this drive, yet i have a problem that i havent seen anyone else experiencing or has done at some time.

Here is the setup:

ASUS 8AN SLI Mobo - RAID Disabled in BIOS
Via VT6421A PCI Sata Card
DOS Bootable - 256Mb USB Pen Drive/X360Sam 0.5 - MTKFlash (Via edited)

I boot to a DOS prompt, turn the 360 on. However, as soon as i turn the 360 on, the dos prompt freezes up with the cursor flashing, which stops me from typing anything before i can do anything else.

I've used the same Pen drive for MS25 drives dozen of times using the Nforce4 version of MTKflash, so i know there isn't anything wrong there with the pen drive.

If i reboot the PC and 360 together, pc hangs on the POST screen. I have tried connecting/disconnecting IDE drives and tested the Via card on a Sata HD i have and it works fine.

This was the card i got:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll... promot_widget

If i can just type the command without DOS freezing up when the machine is turned on, i should be okay as i know the rest of the proceedure.

I'm Stuck

Try updating the drivers for the VIA Card

I tried updating the drivers, yet still had the same problem. However, i found a solution finally to this problem and shall share it in case others encounter it like me.

Here are the steps i took:

Following Textbook's Tutorial (great work man) up to the point where the user turns off the 360 before selecting the Sata port in order to read the orig.bin fw via the Samread command using the 10 sec trick.

Proceed to dump the fw as stated in the tutorial, yet in my case, once the fw was dumped, DOS would then hang again when x360sam was copying the Hacked.bin. However, i found a way around this, which i will explain now.

I booted windows back up and entered the Samsung folder on my USB bootable pen drive, copied the Xtreme.bin to the C:\ and then entered the backups folder and copied my orig.bin to the C:\ that "samread" made earlier.

- using the cmd prompt, i then used samtool 0.5 and copied my drive key from the orig.bin to the xtreme.bin (which i had to rename to Hacked.bin) before the program would work.

- using the cmd prompt again, i then used the Keycheck program to verify both Fw's keys before i attempted to flash.

- copied the hacked.bin (which now had my orig drive key implemented into it) back to the backups folder of x360sam.

- Then i basically used the samhack command stated in the tutorial to the flash the fw onto the drive.

Tested and all backups/originals and DVD movies booted fine.

Hope this helps.
