Are you using XBM or iPrep??

From my recolection if your using XBM the screen your seeing is correct, you then type your read or flash command. Maybe someone can confirm?

Seems like ages ago now since I used XBM.

Be aware though if your using Floppies your more likely to have it go wrong as it has been known for a Floppy to go wrong mid flash then you could be in a whole world of trouble.

Having said that, I have used floppies many times to flash successfully.

When did you download Textbooks' guide? The updated one available now is using iPrep not XBM & it does look quite different.

My advice would be to forget XBM, follow Textbooks guide and use iPrep. It is very similar, but far more straight forward & easier to use than XBM anyway. I have used iPrep with floppies just fine, although as you say it would be safer to use NTFSDOS. It shows you in the guide where to get the latest version and definitions.

this is with ntfsdos cd

EDIT: ok so i did it with a floppy and it worked a charm,10 second trick worked 1st time everytime, backed up my orig.bin lots

now i just have to wait for the discs i ordered which should be here this week sometime and then i can make a backup and test it properly(only tested with 2 originals atm)

cheers.
