Well let me begin by saying this forums is fantastic in hopes of backing up my 360 games, though after hours of forum searching I could not find the answer to my problem.
I have an ms28, SATA card is the VIA 6421, current SATA drivers are the 550b (which I found linked by PrimitiveX5 in another post), I only have one desktop currently usable which is a Dell Dimension 9150 from work.
I used standard Xtreme Boot Maker to setup a USB flash device to boot from, I set it up on the Dell and followed Textbook's guide to the letter. It worked until I reached the point where you choose the device, then turn the 360 on 10s later. I would do this and no matter how long I waited nothing would happen, I would be forced to ctrl+c out of it. Then I tried disabling/enabling everything sata/raid-related in the bios, I tried many different driver setups, and finally with either the most updated drivers, or no drivers at all (suprisingly), I managed to get past the blank screen to "Reading 00%". Now no matter how long I wait, it just sits there, it creates and orig.bin in my usb drive, but the orig is 0 kb in size, so it's null/void for use.
To my knowledge modifying the bios/changing the drivers were the best technical advice I could find after searching through the forums, so now I am humbly asking for some advice/help with this problem.
A little background is that I am a professional IT, so I'm comfortable with just about anything you will have me do, minus soldering. I bought this 360 near the end of last year (around the same time as my friend) and just looking at it, it was on the shelf for awhile, to my suprise he got the Hitachi and I got the ms28 (unlucky for me as he managed to flash his 360 and backup his games immediately). Any help would be much appreciated, thank you for your time.
Edit: I actually have another desktop for use, which is a friend of mines, but it will not boot off a USB. We have an excess hard drive for use to attempt, but Xtreme Boot Maker will not "Format and Make Bootable" any "Local Disk". I remember seeing mention of Textbook using a partition on his hard drive to flash before, but I am unsure of how to do it myself as I cannot seem to find that post again.
