I wait till the DOS command prompt becomes available, turn on the 360, type in the flash command, turn off the 360 and wait till the light goes orange, select the drive called XTREME, count to ten (and other various ammounts of time) turn back on the xbox, but nothing happens. DOS isn't even frozen. It just doesn't start flashing. It stays in the same place after I select which drive. I can hit escape and it will say user break, error 00 should be 70 or whatever, but I usually give it a sec before I even hit escape.

Like a blank dual layer? Did you have the same problem with it hanging after you turn back on the 360? I called MS yesterday, and they're gonna try to repair it for me, free of charge. If they send it back because it's been "tampered with", then I'll give that a try. Thanks for the tip. Off topic: Lets say for a moment that MS doesn't repair my drive, and I get it back untouched. I understand that tom replace the dvd drive with a new one I have to flash the orig key into the new drive, but does it have to be another MS28 drive or can it be any drive, as long as the key is replaced?

I had the same exact setup for my MS28. It did the same thing. I was able to retrieve the orig.bin, but could not flash to th drive again. I used 3 different mobo's and sata cards. No luck. We tried the bad flash method for days with no success. I sent my drive off to Textbook to see what he could do. I got my drive back a week later working perfectly. Still going stong. I don't know what he did, but I thought it was dead. These guys took great care of me, and I was quite skeptical about it being fixed. I recommend the service if that is what you end up doing. Good Luck!

Sounds good. If I get it back from M$ untouched, I'll most likely be sending it to textbook. Good to know that I'm not the only one having problems with the MS28. I've done quite a few Hitachis, but never a Samsung. Thanks again for the info.

ok are you useing the bad flash method if so do this .when you have put the commands in to flash your drive press enter .now i guiess this the part were the system hangs and will not let you go any farther .there are two methods you can try .first one dont reboot the pc just let pc hang .reboot your xbox 360 with a blank dvd in the drive let the drive spin and if it work it will began to flash or make a back up of your firmwere.2 second method .put the command in to flash your drive but dont press enter .put a blank dvd in the drive let the drive spin then press enter .you can use this method for flashing and for back up . i hope it works for you.
